Barclaycard and Direct Debits

Ive got DD for all my credit cards and pretty sure even specified what date i wanted.

Spoke to Barclaycard regards payment due date as it showed a date and i was 99% sure id made the manual payment (new card and dd haven't been taken yet).

Nice oversea"s chap said yes your DD date is between 24th and 31st of each month..what the fudge, surely a DD is on a set date unless that date falls on Bank holiday and its requested on the Friday.

He said no we can request it on any date with the 7 days ive just told you...im not the brightest person in the world, but im positive DD"s just like sex is always done on the same date of the Month unless Bank Holiday..????

Many state "on or after" so yours will be no earlier than 24th but no later than 31st. What does it show on your statement ?

    According to http://help.barclaycard.co.uk/brochure/paying_bill/direct-debit-payments-collected:
When will my payment be collected by Direct Debit?
Direct Debit payments will be credited to your Barclaycard account on your payment due date.
Your payment due date is shown on your statement or can be viewed in Barclaycard online servicing.
    and http://help.barclaycard.co.uk/brochure/paying_bill/Payment_change states:
Why does my payment date change each month?
Your payment date is fixed to a particular working day of the month, this means that it will move due to weekends or bank holidays, as a result your payment due date changes every month. Your due date should always fall within the same 4 days each month. To make sure you don’t miss a payment, have a look at your monthly statement.
so, as with most credit card matters, what's printed on your monthly statements needs to be monitored carefully.

That's probably the statement date, not the DD date. The DD date is 25 days later. And it's not just bank hols - if the statement date or DD date fall on a weekend it'll be the next working day.

So the earliest DD date would be the 24th, which is 25 days after the 30th of a 31 day month. Latest is probably 31st when accounting for all combinations of bank holidays and weekends.

How can you only be 99% sure you had made a manual payment. Can't you check your bank account and/or Barclays online statement to be 100% sure one way or the other? Not quite sure what this has to do with anything though and don't understand why you were expecting a direct debit to be taken if you were 99% sure you had already paid..
Each month your statement will clearly show the payment due date and the date on which the direct debit will be taken. The DD will never be taken earlier. It will be taken on (or shortly after in the case of weekends bank holidays etc) the due date.
Yes there will be some minor variation from month to month.

Its a figure of speech..yes 99% sure as at time of writing Barclaycard online said Payment due,so obviously hadn't been credited to account at that point.

As already said No DD has been taken yet as its new account..no due date for Direct debit hence why i phoned Barclaycard to be told it would be taken on a date in between a 7 day period.

Im questioning that asking is it normal...other credit cards are a date specific arrangement with weekends/bank holiday being the exception.

Sorry but i fail to see what youve added by the question/statement ?

Unlikely. What happens in February? No payment?

They have to give you adiquite notification, which they do on your statement.

Direct debit dates from my recent Barclaycard statements:
    • 09 Jan 17
    • 10 Feb 17
    • 13 Mar 17
    • 10 Apr 17
    • 08 May 17

IIRC this has cropped up before and the conclusion was that Barclaycard takes payments on a Monday or Friday.
