The trustees may be interested in the reasons why they needed someone on more money and this is still not enough to replace the cheaper person that left
Does seem suspicious that your boss has let it get this far when there is plenty they can/could do to improve the situation. They may be being super nice but I would always keep in mind they may be holding back.
you going to HR may have stirred things up(did they know you were going?)
I told my manager I was going to discuss where I stand
The meeting with HR was confidential, she asked if I wanted her to action anything and I said 'no, I just want a record that we have spoken'.
My manager can't stand the new woman, I understand what you are saying but I really don't think this is anything to do with my work etc, it seems like they employed a useless person on too few hours and it's being left to me to pick up the slack0 -
Was this person at the same school?
Were they any good as a teacher?
etc.
there could be other reasons they are in the job like to avoid a redundancy payment and they were not going to retire
if they have continuous service that makes getting rid a bit harder.
The solution is to get them to raise their performance or remove them and employ someone who can do the job I would be asking the Boss why that is not happening.0 -
Something doesn't ring right and I'm not sure your boss is being totally honest with you. You seem to be saying that you are doing the same job than the deputy. What's your title and do you have the same role?
It doesn't make much sense that if they are happy with your work and have no issue with you, they would want to get rid of you over a matter that has nothing to do with you.Last week I was asked by the registrar (my direct line manager) if I would change contracts to 52 weeks a year. She also told me that the only reason I'm being asked is because the Deputy is not pulling her weight and not really getting any work done.
It sounds like you might have shoot yourself by asking to be paid the same than the Deputy. Regardless of her performance, you can't expect to be paid the same if your grades are very different and even if on paper only, you have different roles/experience.
I think you need to take a step back. You've said you didn't want to do more hours. Wait to see if they give you a new contract and decide then what to do.0
