Excellent Equifax Poor Experian

How can I be excellent on equifax but in the bottom of the poor section on experian?! And somewhere in between on Noddle/call credit. Can i appeal to Experian to review my score in light of my score being so much higher on equifax? Both reports and scores obtained yesterday and nothing is going against me except I've had 3 credit searches done on my file in the last 2 months (all were accepted no declines)

  • Why even worry about it? It does not matter.

All you need to be potentially concerned with is if your credit history is all good.

Just choose whichever score you want. They're all equally meaningless.

The simple answer is to apply for credit with Equifax rather than with Experian...oh...hang on...neither of them offer any financial products do they?

Is all the data correct as in accounts all the same, if they are then don't worry about the difference. What does Noddle rate you as ?

Clearscore who take data from Equifax provide a free report, use that if your paying for the report.

Each agency has a different scoring system, well you found this out by now.

I was like that in that my reports show me as good on Noddle and ClearScore but when I looked at my MSE report I was very poor. The same day I did a soft search on Barclaycard for the 20 month balance transfer offer and that said no, I then proceeded to apply because I wanted to see if it did and it gave me an 18k limit... so it all means nothing to me except being somewhere to check for fraudulent activity.

It matters because I'm applying for a mortgage and have been declined due to "adverse credit" due to Experian.

Adverse credit refers to the data in your file.

    Not a magical number.

Out of interest, what was causing the problem which led to the decline?

People here may come across as sarky because this question is posted on a daily basis, numerous times.

Your credit 'score' is meaningless. It exists solely as a marketing tool in order to get you to purchase further products from the credit reference agency in question, in order to lull you into a false sense of security that you are going to increase your fictitious score somehow.

The reason why you appear as 'excellent' on Equifax but in the bottom of the 'poor' section on Experian and somewhere in between on Noddle/call credit is because not every lender will report back to all 3 agencies hence there can be a world of difference shown in each report. This is why it's so important to always obtain copies of all 3 reports from the credit reference agencies to obtain the true picture.

In your case, there was obviously something being reported back to Experian that wasn't showing up on your Equifax/Call Credit files.
