Oh my head. I had a music themed afternoon with my Grandson and my head is now splitting! Not content with the toy musical instruments i had asked his Mummy to bring, he tried improvising with everything he laid his hands on.... My saucepans were hot favourite and he discovered he could make more noise with metal spoons rather than using wooden drumsticks.
Asked my daughter to come a few minutes early to check the outfit i will be wearing on Sunday... More about that nearer the time. Talking about my daughter, i happened to mention we were going to babysit at her house when the new baby comes along. I cant get a cot as well as a childs bed and a double bed in our bedroom and she had a bit of a paddy..... Apparently she will ask their other Nanny to have them instead. She doesnt want to go out on a night out and spend the evening clock watching....:(
Tea will be late, Youngest isnt hungry, hubby wont be home till late.
Have a good evening all,This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hello all.
AOD hope you had a lovely birthday, sorry I'm late to the party:bdaycake:
Just returned from another day at the coal face, er I mean Dads :rotfl:. Still not finished but it's looking more like a garden than a jungle, however it will take another couple of days to sort. We are not going up for a few days because I feel rotten with a sore throat and a croaky voice and DH is aching ( I'm sure Dad still thinks we're about 30 and can keep going like the ever ready bunnies
)
We have had such hot weather today that we came home, jumped in the shower and couldn't be bothered to cook tea, so a sandwich has sufficed, followed by a mars bar ice cream.
Nelski you have my sympathy in your tasks ahead, I went through that when my Mum passed away, thank goodness I had DH as he was my rock at that stressful time, because my Dad was in shock and denial and unable to help.
Dumpling well done!
Judi that lets you off the hook re the baby sitting duties
.
Lainey hope Tilly dog is ok
Hugs to anyone who wants and needs one and some extra ones for Nelski.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Evening all.
Back from my own exertions - two hours with students and then a 60 mile drive down to Campbeltown for a very productive meeting, even it ran to almost three hours. The drive home was just glorious, baby blue skies and a gentle heat. The views were stunning.
My Chinese takeaway rule worked out tonight, a great big space outside the shop meant I called in.
The postie brought my general election postal vote forms and a bottle of 'new' gin. Happy days!
Hugs to all.0 -
Evening all, thank you for the birthday wishes.
I spent most of the day making a memory book for the woman who retired today, I'd assembled everything, at least I thought I had, but more messages kept arriving to be entered, together with the photos. We had a tea party with samosas 9 we are in the West Midlands, we always have samosas ) and cake and fruit. The drizzle cakes I made looked as though they had sunk but they were nice, light and fluffy. We had far too much, there was a little left from my cakes and another colleague has taken that home, as he likes my cakes and will eat them as a pre Ramadan treat. And we had too many samosas so I have some for the freezer. The retiree has taken most of the flapjacks home, as she loves them and they were made specially for her to eat. She liked the little bear I made her in a babygros and a little camera, the camera took a bit of fiddling about to make, that's her hobby.
And now I'm home and walked in to be presented with a glass of wine, my mum rang, my son Skyped and I had some presents and cards so a lovely birthday.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Sometimes only pizza and chocolate will do. By this time next week I am likely to be unemployed without a reference because I am going to have to resign or risk losing my license to practice.
In and of itself, not the end of the world, but I can't discuss it with my husband as he sits his finals tomorrow and Friday and left for the hotel this afternoon. I am home alone tonight and tomorrow night and I have to go in to work tomorrow and make as if everything is fine.
Getting a new job would be difficult enough with my employment history, but I can't apply for anything permanent because we are likely to be moving in November.
Sorry. Having an attack of the poor me. I'm off to re-do the budget with some serious belt tightening for the next few months.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -

Take care and hope everything turns out better than you are imaging 0 -

Thanks. Just feeling a bit alone.
Happy Birthday. Glad you were able to have a treat when you got home. It sounds like such a thoughtful set of gifts for the retiree. XGoals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -

nelski you make me feel very childish whining when you are facing so much. Ill take the chocolate, but being a recovering alcoholic please keep the wine for yourself. I hope today was bearable. I can't imagine how hard things must be for you at the moment.
I was self-employed when I couldn't drive, but I don't really have the temperament for it. I am going to brush up my cv, and hopefully I can get some help from my governing body with an explanation for the lack of references.
I'm going to have a hot bath and an early night. Tomorrow is not going to be easy.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -
It does but i feel a bit guilty to be honest. My Grandsons other Nanny has a single parent daughter who tends to drop him off at his Nannys a lot. She's in her 60s and i think its a bit much to expect her to look after a 4 year old and a baby overnight.Judi that lets you off the hook re the baby sitting duties .
Of course i could kick Youngest out or turn the home office back into a bedroom for the occasional overnight stays.
I dont mind babysitting on an evening. I'll even sleep on the settee if thats what she wants but no, its not good enough.
