Ebay complaints

Well I'm not really going to complain about ebay - to be honest there is a lot I like and I've generally been happy with customer service. But what I will do is put up a transcript of my conversation with their customer service and be interested to hear what others make of it.

Am I just being too picky? Or are they being outrageous?

Below between ******* is the transcript from tonight's conversation with customer service.

If a representative from ebay would like to comment I am very willing to have that feedback too.

I think this is a complaint really, but I don't know quite whether the complaint is with ebay or not. I used ebay to pay for 1 day delivery. Posted the parcel on 18th May and it took 4 days

Basically one day postage but instead of delivering on 19th May it was not delivered until 22nd May
06:24:05 UTC jhorlock
So my question really is who do I complain to, and what happens next?
06:24:35 UTC Prashant
Hello James
06:24:55 UTC jhorlock
In the past I've always used my own courier, but this time decided to let ebay print my postage labels etc. I paid more for 1 day, admittedly not much more, but it was about £1 more for one day than 3 day.
06:25:16 UTC Prashant
I understand that despite having one day delivery, the item did not reach the buyer. Right?
06:25:31 UTC jhorlock
It did reach, just not in one day
06:25:47 UTC Prashant
Okay. Thank you for the information.
06:26:44 UTC jhorlock
Normally, I would now contact the courier who I purchased the delivery from, and typically I would expect a refund of postage cost, no compensation, but a refund (eg royal mail do this), however, this time I used ebay.
06:28:49 UTC Prashant
I am sorry for the late delivery as sometimes it may happen due to some reasons.
06:30:06 UTC jhorlock
I know that sometimes there are delays but in these cases it is customary to refund the customer who paid for items to be delivered within the set timeframe
06:32:12 UTC Prashant
I sincerely apologise you for the delay James, I can understand you point. IF you wish to report this, I can provide you the address.
06:32:35 UTC jhorlock
Yes please
06:34:43 UTC Prashant
u may send your complaints on the address below: eBay Administration eBay Europe P.O.Box 9473 Dublin 15 Ireland
06:35:26 UTC jhorlock
Is there no way to do this electronically, it seems a bit strange to incur further postage costs to complain about postage costs
06:38:29 UTC Prashant
I am sorry james inorder to file the complaints you need to file it on this address. If there would be a way, I would surely provide you.
06:40:09 UTC jhorlock
Wow - that truly is quite staggering. One of the largest internet based companies and no way to complain electronically.
06:41:32 UTC jhorlock
A quick google suggests the 7th in the world and no way of complaining online?
06:41:50 UTC Prashant
I am afraid that the complaints are only done via mail. If there would be a way, I would definitely share it with you.
06:42:25 UTC jhorlock
OK thank you.
06:43:34 UTC Prashant
You are most welcome.
06:43:36 UTC Prashant
I truly appreciate your understanding in this matter.
06:44:12 UTC jhorlock
Who would have thought it would actually prove easier to pursue a matter in court which can be done electronically than complain to ebay. I'm amazed but appreciate your time.
06:45:27 UTC Prashant
Thank you for your kind words James.
06:45:34 UTC Prashant
Thank you for contacting eBay. Have a great time ahead.
06:45:52 UTC Prashant
Bye take care :)

It's designed to make it difficult to complain because it will deter most people from bothering...
If you allow for the weekend, it was delivered one day late.

you can easily find the CEOs email address, but when you send and email it must go to a blind employee as they never reply

I agree with all you say, but why pay extra for 1 day delivery if ebay are just going say - oh well it was late?

I don't dispute that they are doing it to be difficult. I'm just shocked that ebay can get away with it.

It sounds like the assistant also had no proper training. I've seen this type of conversation on M$ troubleshooting boards where the employed troubleshooter doesn't listen properly to the problem presented.
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I'm reading it as that the OP was the seller and commissioned the 1 day delivery service. Therefore questioning the refund for that service as it wasn't provided.

Spot on. Yes I was the seller and used ebay shutl 1 day delivery service for the product I sold. But they took 4 days not 1. And while it is all well and good to argue that that is only 1 day late as they don't deliver on weekends - I don't see that as a relevant argument because it was delivered 3 days late. The person wanted expediated delivery, as the seller I paid for expediated delivery and the buyer didn't receive expediated delivery.

    From the T&Cs
Delivery and collection times cannot be guaranteed and are approximate only and time shall not be of the essence in the performance of Services.

So quite simply,by their terms. There is no late.

I'm not convinced, that this can be hidden in small print. You can't sell a service which you don't provide and then hide behind small print.

I understand you are only the messenger - and don't shoot the messenger etc, but I don't think they can legally do this.

It is not hidden, it is in there T&C which you accept when you book the service.
