Faulty appliances in a new build

Hi,
We recently moved into a new build property and our hob broke after 2 weeks and now only one side of it sparks and lights. The builder say we have to go through the warranty with Hoover who came out quickly but disappeared again as they needed to order a part and never reappeared. It's now becoming beyond frustrating and I'm not sure who to chase to get this resolved quickly.
Is it really down to us to go through warranty with the manufacturer or is it for the house builder to rectify? I'm struggling to find out who covers this.
Any help or points in the right direction are greatly received.
Thanks

Your contract is with the house builder but have you chased up Hoover to find out what's going on yet?0

I've chased Hoover a number of times now and just get the usual promise of a call back. They've been awful, arranged an initial visit which my partner took off work to be home for and they had to order a part so did nothing on that visit. They then didn't arrange a follow up but just turned up unnannounced when luckily I was home and the part they had ordered didn't solve the problem and since then I've just had radio silence and kee getting fobbed off with these promises of a call back.
I'm also annoyed with the builder as my initial thoughts were it was their problem to rectify not mine to go chasing Hoover up constantly.0 -
We moved in on 31st March 2017, it was around the 17th April the fault occurred and we told builders same day who told us to contact Hoover. Hoover sent someone out at the end of that week who couldn't do anything, next guy turned up 2 weeks later unexpectedly and since then nothing.0

This short extract from MSE's Consumer Rights guide should help you:Know who's responsible
When returning items, beware shops trying the oldest trick in the book: saying they're not responsible for the shoddy goods and you must call the manufacturer. This is total nonsense!
If a company fobs you off by saying "go to the maker instead", it's wrong. It's the retailer's job to sort it.
It doesn't matter if it's an iPod from a high street shop or a designer frock from a department store. If something's broken, torn, ripped or faulty, the seller has a legal duty to put it right as your contract is with it.0
