Pay as you go on EE

Hi,
I'm slightly bewildered by all the options available at the moment. I've had a look at the megathread here, and the 'cheap pay-as-you-go' quicklink here. But there's limited options for the EE network. I don't want a bundle with Asda.
Can anyone recommend a good pay as you go network?

Can you not remove the monthly package on EE (after minimum term?) and get their PAYG service?

The problem with EE is that the only way to get data on PAYG is with one of the monthly packages and that works out dearer than contract.

why do they make it so hard to find the prices? I had a look at Tescos and their lite tariff. Not bad, but O2 network is not that good. I want to stick with EE's network.
  • So I'm looking at EE's pay as you go page and all they are giving me is 'price plans' ???

Incredible! I still cant find a rate for calls. This is just 'packs' , another name for a bundle, not payg at all

    Asda Mobile (EE):
    8p per minute, 4p per text, 5p per 1Mb, £5 min top-up

    Tesco Mobile Lite (O2)
    8p per minute, 4p per text, 10p per 1Mb, 8p voice mail, £5 min top-up

    EE
30p per minute, 12p per text, no specific charge per 1Mb must be a pack or bundle, 30p voice mail, £5 min top-up

EE have different prices depending on when you joined them, but it's basically 30p per call, 12p per text. Which is probably why they only promote add on packs.

See Ken't Tech Tips for a good site to compare PAYG prices, it also tells you which network they are on, so for example Asda mobile would do you if you wanted to remain on EE's network.

On EE, 1p mobile charge 1p per min, etc. Or for a network direct, Three at 3p/min, 2p per text and 1p per MB. The 1p SIM needs a top up every 120 days, I think. Three's credit lasts indefinitely provided a chargeable call is made at least once every 180 days.

Most of the others charge ridiculous amounts on PAYG.

Why not try a 30 day rolling contract:

    500MB data, 250 minutes, 500 texts

with plusnet mobile which runs on EE's network

    £5.00 per month
