Need locks on Bedroom doors

Hi,

I need to put a handle and lock (combined or separate) on a bedroom in my parents' house.
I want one with a thumb turn on the inside, with a normal key/yale lock on the outside.
What I don't want is for it to lock automatically of you close the door, from the outside. Can someone tell me what I need for this and/or point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance

    Something like this ? : http://www.screwfix.com/c/security-ironmongery/thumbturn-euro-cylinders/cat810310

Seems a bit OTT for a bedroom door mind, but it's not expensive.

May need small modification to handle position

That will give you a traditional handle latch with key outside thumb inside deadlock.

Are locks on bedrooms really a good idea? I would have thought it was a fire hazard.

Do your parents know what you are planning to do to their house?

You'd have loved my house then- proper mortace and key locks on every door in the house when we moved in, including the airing cupboard door. We have no idea why. The extension was only 12 years old so obviously done relatively recently. We never did match all the keys to the doors, and thankfully they have now all been removed! Very bizarre. It's just a normal 3 bed semi, not in a studenty area or anything, it was previously rented out, but our understanding is that it was to a family with young children.

We have locks on the bedroom doors but only for locking when we're away from the house eg on holiday.

Yeah, that's what I want... A lock which would accommodate a yale-style key.
Would that lock automatically if the doors is pulled closed, or would you need the key to lock the door? I'd prefer the latter.

One I have this and the Euro cylinder, Al I need is an appropriate door handle, and I'm good to go?

    Thanks for your help.

    the latter...

    typicaly if it says

latch it needs something doing to open it but will lock/latch when closing. either handle/knob or a key(if no handle)

deadbolt needs something doing to both lock and unlock.

The other link to the era looks to be a lockable latch ie you can use the handle to open it or lock the handle so it cannot open it
(using the thumb on the inside or the key on te outside.
