Various others have rather hijacked your thread and your particular case rather got lost in the melee.Gavin14774 wrote: »Well I've started the ball rolling so I'll see how I get on.
Your best course of action is to send the Canada Square address a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter. For £10 this will provide you with all information the Bank has kept on file for you. If the information provided includes that you paid PPI, then you'll be able to construct a far more robust complaint than simply "complaining" that you may have had insurance and so want a refund...0 -
Had a reply back saying I had insurance on my Egg card and loan. Filled in the forms so will see what happens.0

Had a letter today, £1200 refund on the card, see what happens with the loan.0

Excellent news Gavin, well done. Can I ask where/how you started your "ball rolling" please?0

Initial enquiries on here told me that Egg now trade as Canada Square Operations, there is a section on there where you fill in your complaint online, that's all I did. Took about 8 weeks from me first going on their website. Beware, some of the question they ask try to trip you up into saying you would have needed PPI so make sure you read them carefully!0 -
Hi Gavin and anyone else!
Hoping you can help - I've had a letter from Citibank confirming that yes, I did have PPI on a very old egg card and they have provided the account number.
Did you take the step of requesting info on the payments you made to PPI or did you go straight in with the complaint?
I was under the impression that you should get the payment details first? Otherwise, how do I know what they have offered as compensation is enough?
Also, can you shed any light on the tricky questions you mention on their questionnaire that lean you towards a trap?
....all guidance greatly appreciated!
Thanks you and well done!0 -
There is no "trap" or "trick".can you shed any light on the tricky questions you mention on their questionnaire that lean you towards a trap?
Answer the questions on the complaint form as fully and honestly as you can, making sure that you don't contradict yourself and you will be fine.
Do realise that not all PPI was mis-sold, however.0 -
Thanks, would you suggest asking for a breakdown of the ppi i paid first? They have an online complaint form but you can also write - I'm guessing it would be quicker online....0
