I've been searching on here for ages and I'm only finding threads from years ago. I want to see if I had PPI on my Egg loan but I don't know who I have to contact. I've seen threads saying Barclays took them over and others saying CIti bank and RBS!

Can someone tell me who I need to contact please?

Thank you, hopefully I can proceed as I have no information as it was years ago.
  • Let me know how you get on? I've just tried to claim back PPI on an Egg card via the Resolver tool on here and Barclays have said they have no record of an account, despite me giving them the account number. I don't know what to do next.... had a similar response from another CC company that I know I had an account with and believe I was mis-sold PPI on but I can't find the account details anywhere so don't know if I can take it any further. Both accounts were from over 10 years ago.

If account details have been deleted (in line with Data Protection) by the Bank and you have no relevant documentation yourself, that's the end of any complaint you might make I'm afraid.

    Time to move on...

Egg cards are Canada Square Oprations.
You need o send a SAR ad £10 to see what info is left, or make a complaint and see what happens.

The Bank have already told you that they have no record of your account, so there is no point in now sending them a SAR letter unless you want to gamble £10 on this turning up something their investigation of your complaint didn't.

Basically, unless you can provide very thorough documentation for this account from your own archive, I can't see you progressing any further with this.

The account number and your address details etc would certainly have been enough for them to find your account if it was still on record. However, it seems it has been deleted which is not unlikely more than ten years on.

How the OP progresses (or not) is completely irrelevant to your case.

I was told the same by Barclays, but after being persistent, they referred me to Canada Square Operations. Initially they too said they couldn't find any record of my accounts. I had paperwork, and so sent them that. They have now offered me £550, but I'm not sure whether or not to accept, as I have no way of checking their offer to see if it's correct. Do I take it to Ombudsman, or leave it at that?

This was key in the success of your complaint.

Why would you refer a successful complaint to the Ombudsman?

If you can find additional documentary evidence that you paid more than you are being refunded, then you should present this to the bank. Otherwise, the Ombudsman cannot increase the refund amount simply because you say you can't check the figure...

Well I've started the ball rolling so I'll see how I get on.
