Is it one that calculates the weight of the load? Maybe you are overloading it for the setting so it adjusts itself to actually clean the clothes instead of running an inadequate wash

I have an Indesit and I know the quick wash is only for a few items, although I am not sure what it does if you overload it as I have never tried. My Indesit book also covers three models so I have to remember some bits are not relevant to my machine so maybe that is the problem the OP is having.

    Thanks.

If you never needed to use this programme, what is the issue?

What about the other questions I asked?

They should not state misleading or possible incorrect information.

No idea if this is any help but I have an Indesit and programme number 11 is Flash Cotton and it takes just an hour at anything up to 60 degrees with a 1400 spin. It's the only programme I use.

Did you buy this machine from Indesit?

Have you spoken to whoever sold the thing to you?

From what I'm used to you have to select the programme and then press another button for the quicker wash. I've currently got a Bosch and I press the "speed perfect" button and my 40° mixed load takes 1 hour. Can't remember what it was called on my Whirlpool but it was similar.

Have another look at the manual, though if you have a budget model its possible this may not be a feature.

It states those cycles take 180 minutes in total.

As I explained above, the 45 minute claim is part of the technology rather than the product claims and it very much looks like it relates to the wash part of the cycle only - not a complete cycle including rinsing and spinning.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

It looks like you have to press the "Eco Time" function button to enable the shorter wash time after selecting the programme. Sounds the same as my Bosch.

There is a footnote in the manual that says "short cycle for cottons" select cycle 5 and 40 degrees. Contrary to what cycle 5 says on the actual machine.

No idea if it will do it in 40 minutes, but some chap on youtube did something similar on a slightly different model, and his video was shy of 40 minutes. I didn't watch it. ZZZzzz.......
