want to cancel my holiday but im not lead passenger

Options
Hi everyone.

long story short, booked a holiday with a friend but after several massive fallouts ive decided i dont want to go.

the holiday is paid in full, we paid seperately on our debit cards.

she is refusing to reply to messages asking for my money back

ive spoke to the travel agent but they advised she will need to arrange the cancellation .

she is not going to do this .

we took out insurance, can i claim on that ? or am i basically going to accept ive lost over £600? and she can take whoever she wants in my place?

Guess you've lost your money there. You can't claim on insurance for "change of mind"

Did the travel agent advise you that even if the named passenger got in contact they could refund you? I'd be surprised if you've book and paid in full that they would do this simply due to a change of heart.

the lead person might be able to do a name change if they can find a new friend to go with them, There would be a charge, how much depends on the company. That way you could maybe offer to cover the charge, if the new person paid you what you paid.

Not always an option, but worth a try?

Is it not something you can work out ?

Can you not still go, were you sharing a room ?

If you have a separate room you can be free to do what you like, it means you haven't wasted the money and got a holiday out of it, just don't talk to each other on the flights.
  • same room unfortuately, its not something we can sort either

Could you contact the hotel and see if there's any single rooms and pay the difference?
