I am almost embarrased to post:o this but here goes. Can anyone reccomend a book htat would help me to be less useless on my computer.I am not stupid but can't seem to do very much on it. For example I see posters putting up links to other sites, posting photos stuff like that. I don't want to keep clogging up the forums with by the way how do you do.......I figured I have 3 options 1) go to a evening class sadly not an option as I work as a tutor and often work in the evenings
2) advertise for someone to teach me not 100% about this PLUS don't know how much it may cost.
3) buy a book! ????
Like I said posting links ,photos etc and stuff like that.
Again I am sorry that I have posted an item that you experts may well find pathetic but it would mean an awful lot to me to be able to do a bit more on here. Many many thanks for reading this. I am very grateful. A XXX

Hi anniestar,
don't put yourself down. Nobody was born an IT god, we all have to learn...
As a starter try to find a beginners guide for the operating system that you have on your PC. If you go to https://www.google.co.uk and in the search box, type beginners guide to windows XP (If thats what you have), you should see a lot of references. See if there are any appropriate titles listed. If the references are from online bookstores, there are normally reviews of the book. Try to find one at a reasonable price with a couple of good reviews.
Once you start to gain confidence, look for Advanced guides.

anniestar you can buy pcs for dummies (or dummies for a range of subjects) which are simple to use and explain things very simply with step by step instructions. they can be bought from pc shops or book stores for around £15. don't feel silly when seeking advice.0

Never feel embarrassed or worry about looking silly just because you need to ask questions....there are a lot of people out there who really like helping others and get great satisfaction from doing it....
Remember, it's better to risk looking foolish for 10 seconds and ask the question than remain ignorant for the rest of your life....thats the way I look at it anyway...

Never be embarrased to ask for help!
You say you work as a tutor in the evenings, does this mean you are able to get along to a class in the daytime? If so there are loads of courses out there...at your local college perhaps? I'm not sure what you tutor in or what age group but perhaps if it is an age group that would be able why not offer to swap knowledge? You could offer them an hour of tutoring and they could in return offer you an hour of computer help!
Good luck and well done for asking for help!My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being, hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.-Erma Bombeck-~ Member of the MSE Celebdaq Minileague ~0 -
