Wow how did a year go by without posting anything! I've been visiting loads because I've been doing the SPC which I love. I've sold loads of things on eBay/Gumtree/FB marketplace. Anyone else find that people on FB Marketplace can be so rude?!We've just got to the end of our main ported mortgage term so re-applied for a good rate and got 1.29% which is pretty good I think! Much better than the other smaller mortgage. Once all the paperwork is sorted I'm keen to up the overpayments. As an update from last year, that commission cheque did indeed pay for the windows. They look so much better! I love them. My savings this year have been going to a new bathroom and the plumber starts next week which is soooooo exciting. We have been without a family bathroom for 2 years
I should add that we have had an en suite which was one of the first things we did as a part of renovating this old house.... so we haven't been weeing outside or anything

Agree about FBm, some members of local groups can be the same too.
Nice mortgage rate, hopefully that will help keep your budgeting on track for a while.
Your home is slowly coming together and I'm looking forward to hearing about your new bathroom.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.... my contract has come to an end. I'm back applying for jobs but thankfully I have 2 months' pay owed - it was a part of the contract - so I'm pretty lucky. A few people have asked me to go in with them on startups and things, but as yet I'm being a bit hesitant. I'm not used to not having regular £ coming in!I need to get back on the selling things wagon. Bathroom is being completed and I'm saving some money because I'm doing the tiling myself... but that means it is taking forever
OH is also in the process of applying for jobs that would be a bit more £, which is positive! He's not much of a saver though
I definitely want to see how to pay off the mortgage in more of an ad-hoc way. They are with Nationwide and their online portal is so rubbish! I have a direct debit going out for an extra £ but I am not sure how to do it so that I can put dribs and drabs in. Anyone else have any idea?
Hope all is well - keep on keeping on!Mortgage Total #1: £166,000 OPs so far: £10,250

I have my lender set up as a payee and send money over that way. It's a lot easier and retains control of when and how much is sent.
See if agencies have anything to fill the gap while applying for other roles. There's no excuse for not getting the tiling done now!
Would OH send you money to save on his / your behalf rather than him trying to do it?Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Exciting to hear about your bathroom, I'm currently saving up to redo mine

There's loads of temp roles going, get registering with agencies.
If he clams up, you'll have to find a way to talk with him. I gave my OH a figure to pay me each month and when he's working he increases it; that's for me to do with as I please although it's generally savings I put it in and I only budget on my income.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1
