Are the builders happy to spend time giving you a quote for a property which you don't own and might never own?
The three builders i`ve phone are more than happy to come round and quote for a house i may never own. The one that did come round spent 30 minutes with me talking about it.0 -

Is a few weeks of waiting going to make a huge amount of difference to you?
If its only a few weeks then fine, i`ve had two property purchases that took 4-6 months to complete. The idea was if we could get costs of the project down in writing we can then plan ahead.
Maybe I should just go straight to an architect and draw up the plans and costs with them?0 -
Well, if you think the EA is in any way your friend or gives the first toss about actually helping you...
So if I asked for a second or third viewing after an offer I shouldnt expect an agent to let me in because why should he be helping me to check if our furniture will fit if its not in his interest? Surely he only only cares about his client and not the buyers???0 -
He may. He may not. It depends on his instructions from his clients.
If it's for something relatively purchase-confirming, like measuring up, then it's a lot more likely than for something which may risk the sale - like getting another quote from a different builder because the last quote was a bit large and scary...0 -

I have had one or two wonderful EAs who were on the vendor's side who have helped keep the sale on track - but I'm under no illusion they were doing me any favours, they wanted the sale. I did buy one a bottle of Champers, but he was an absolute star. But absolutely 100% on the vendor's side!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0
