Halifax share dealing

Opinions welcome please from anyone who uses Halifax share dealing and has their dividends paid out. Any problems, reliable, on time etc?

Having to switch my mum's ISA after Bell's large price increase and her introduction bonus period runs out. They are one of the low cost platforms that do power of attorney.

I've been with them a few years, the only problem is that they don't seem to like my email address so corporate action stuff ends up getting posted because I don't get an alert, other than that no problems.

I don't know if you were looking at the sharebuilder regular savings plan but I think it's much underrated, only £2 per purchase, it's supposed to be for regular savings but you can set it to a single trade, the only downside is only buys once a week but I'm not really in to timing the markets so I'm not fussed.

My only gripe with their dividends is nowadays they don't seem to get them into the account until about midday on they day they're due. Then paying them out automatically takes 3 days. I suppose it's because they're cheap.

Very reliable. I recommend them. On the rare occasions I need to speak to them, their online chat facility and their phone service is good. I've had no problems with dividends.

I can't comment on Halifax but I use iWeb which is the same platform and am very happy with them.

What investments does your mum hold? Is it stocks or UT/OIECs, or a mixture.

And, what sort of functionality does she require from the ISA platform, i.e. are regular investment option important, automatic re-investment of divi's, automatic distribution of divi's, etc, etc?

Halifax is good, if I had to switch from AJ Bell I would move to Halifax/BOS/iweb.

i use iweb (really the same company as halifax), and it's the same, i.e. dividends reach my bank account 3 working days after the payment date.

but IMHO that's actually very good. many platforms only pay out dividends once a month, which makes the average wait for dividends to reach your bank account about half a month.

I also use IWEB for my ISA and am happy with them.

My only small gripe is that they don't carry funds such as the L&G Multi Index series:(

I also use iweb, and the 3-5 day wait (there always seems to be a weekend between the working days) can be a little annoying; but I've also used a platform that paid all of a month's dividends in one go, and often found that a dividend went into their system after they'd totaled for the month but before they'd paid out, so a whole month to wait. That's really annoying.

I am with iWeb myself after AJBell raised their prices and am happy with them, unfortunately they cannot handle power of attorney ISAs.

As explained my mother's bonus period runs out with Bell so I can move it without having to reimburse. She is now in monthly income OEICs for convenience with the care home fees. Total return is not that much different from non-monthly equivalents or sector best performers, and the capital is still slightly increasing. The only real requirement is reliable dividend payment (maybe ruling out III ;) ). Fund switching fees are not really important.

The exact funds are available on Halifax, the only downside is at the moment they do not have online access for power of attorney accounts, but telephone instead. This is not ideal but if they are reliable in sending out dividends not a deal breaker since I know the dates and can always check with the bank as dividends come in, and fees go out. For the large platform fee saving it seems worthwhile, particularly after checking the feedback here.

    Thanks to all repliers.
