What happens if you lose your Metro Bank debit card?

Do you have to go to one of their branches for another one printing? Or can they post you a new one out?

I'm asking because I'm from Leeds and this is an account I discovered and been wanting to get since I was away for a while last Summer, although you can only apply within a branch but with them only having branches down south, it's a bit of an issue and I've never had the chance to travel down there to sort an account out.

I'm travelling in just over a week and we're going to be doing a bit of a road trip between Germany, Switzerland and possibly France and I've just been looking into my finances and I do have a Halifax Clarity for spending, but I'm thinking more for cash withdrawals without any interest whatsoever (I know the clarity would still incur some charges due to it being a credit card)

Anyway, the friend I'm going with lives in Derbyshire, and the closest Metro Bank branches between me and him is in Milton Keynes. It's still a lot further down but I was just thinking that I might as well sort it out. And then drive him back up near me for the weekend and I'll drive us to Manchester when we're flying.

If the scenario was that I lost my debit card after that in the future, would I then have to re-visit a branch? Or if it had to be closed for fraudulent activity? Etc? Touch wood, I've never lost a card but there's a first time for everything..:)

  • The best thing is to report it immediately and of course visit the branch.

Lets be clear if you are suggesting that you are considering putting off reporting the loss of a debit card as (getting a replacement) is not convenient to you - then you're just daft.

Metro may even read this thread and save you the bother.

I think the issue is that the OP lives in the north, where there aren't any branches, but would like an account for the benefits when travelling abroad.

I can't answer the question, best to ask them about it.

    Re-reading I think you're spot on.

join santander they do free transaction for pounds to euros but you have to go to their cash machines too get it free.
It's Spain only isn't it? Spain would be a heck of a detour if OP is "doing a bit of a road trip between Germany, Switzerland and possibly France".

By no means would that be my idea!

Of course I would ring the number and report it lost/stolen! My question is regarding, would they send me a new one? Or would I have to visit branch for a replacement card?

Has it ever occurred to you that all this travelling from Leeds to Derbyshire via Milton Keynes would cost you far more money than the very small amount of interest that you would pay Halifax Clarity for any cash withdrawals that you may make?

Yep, I've realised that. Although it's just a day out I guess

By the time it takes them to get back to me, people with previous experience with them could have answered me on here :T
