DFW Daily chat thread.. Mon 1st Oct.

Pinch punch first of the month and all that!

Have 'borrowed' (ok nicked) the idea for a daily chat thread from oldstyle and thought it would be nice to have a chat thread.

How's everyone today?

    I'm very good IA.

Today I have finally cleared and closed my last store card account! I don't care that it's raining and dark outside as I have no more card debt!!!

How about you? How was your weekend?

    Hiya!!!

Well done Lucy, bet that has made your day! :j

I am feeling better about things today. I still have my cash in hand part time job, which means i will be getting £60 a week extra. :T

Hopefully this means i can pay off some more debt sooner.

    Debt: just my mortgage :D
  • I'm good too; just checked my bank statements and have a couple of refunds for subs I cancelled last month. Which is great!

Really beginning to worry about xmas though; wish I'd found this site in January, then I might have a sensible savings fund for it!

    Hows things?

    Re - Christmas shopping.

I've already started (and finished 2) the friends and family that I buy for have all set a limit, so I know how mcuh it is going to cost me. The fun bit is looking for bargians. Have a look as you wander around the shops, I found some wonderful pink fluffy fairy lights for a friend yesterday and they were only £3.49!

It'll be fine, just remember it's not the cost it's the thought that counts!

I've just removed £17 from Betfair, and sold stuff on e-bay totalling around £300 over the weekend. (Boy do I hate the shipping out bit of this  )

That's the good news. The bad news is my car is going to cost £300, OH is changing jobs and I have to find £2K as a cushion for October.....

And the worse news is that OH leaves for his new overseas job on Sunday and I'm not sure how I will cope......
(we will see each other every couple of months, but.....)

I'm having a good day too. I've updated my debt total (see sig) and am very close to 35k - a target I set myself to reach by Christmas. I will be there much sooner so I'm thinking over what my next target should be.

Also my OH started a new job today.

So although it's grey and cold and rainy, I'm feeling more optimistic than I have for a long time.

Olive, you have a month or less to put that cunning plan into action!

Sorry to hear about OH's imminent departure. That's very hard. Plan lots of moneysaving activities to fill your time while he's away.
