No wonder that they have dropped the service but is there anyone else with PAYG (no data needed) where top ups do not expire?
with Giffgaff you have to purchase one of their googybags lest say for £10
you will get for that 2GB UK data, 500 UK minutes and unlimited Text which last 1 month, but once the moth is up they start charging you and taking from the £10.
I have a giffgaff sim i use as a spare and for the last 3 years i have had £3.25 in my account . every 6 months you have to make a call or text to keep account active0 -

All the networks and most MVNO's have non-expiring credit, they all require a chargeable action (make a call, text, data use or top up) to keep the sim live, usually at least once every 6 months.====0 -
But some are only three months and Lebara just 84 days. So you need to check.0

That seems an obvious point (people should check all the relevant terms and do some research in advance) and also why I said "usually".====0 -
I'm 9 months into my second 24 month contract with Talkmobile and have to say I'm sad that there won't be another afterwards.
I've had great retention deals using them, haven't had any real issues with customer services, the reception is good and the internet is generally very fast. Despite only being 3G it will be faster than what others are offering under 4G I'm sure.
A big shame and one wonders what Vodafone are up to.0 -
Vodafone's CEO was asked about this at the recent results announcements. He said that they wanted to move away from 'ultra low' margin MVNOs and towards what he called more 'reasonably priced' versions. He basically put it as Vodafone were going to build the network for themselves and then sell capacity on it as a surplus not as 'service'.
Essentially they want to keep the Vodafone network for themselves - i.e. if you want Vodafone network/coverage then you need to buy from Vodafone.0 -
Lets hope others don't follow suit and maybe they will be forced to rethink these plans then.
It's not an issue for me I will just use a different provider, I feel sorry for people in the Highland and Islands though where they are going to have no choice to to pay Vodafone whatever they want.0 -

You're on contract, but the thread title is about PAYG closing, unless I'm missing something.Move along, nothing to see.0
