MSE News: Three to extend 'Feel At Home' offer – but some WILL still pay to use data

I'm on contract (unlimited everything / 12 GB roaming / 12 GB tethering).
I've done 5 trips to the EU this year (Netherlands *3, france, Germany). In every case three has been miserable to use. Whilst some browsing works ok, including twitter, facebook I failed with
- purchasing train tickets
- reading up about tourist attractions on their official site like Versailles
- downloading apps
- using google maps
- so many other sites took ages to load
- no 4G
That's on top of no vpn, couldn't stream & of course couldn't tether.
I used a Vodafone sim. perfect. everything was fast and "Just worked".
It's one reason I'm now expecting to leave three.... I've found their coverage has stagnated... not seeing the improvements that Vodafone & co seem to be pushing ahead with. 4G still limited, 800 Mhz not going far. some local gaps (work, home).
Of course experiences may vary...... but I'm not convinced they are investing in the network sufficiently. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0
