Fog is common at LCY airport, it's still extraordinary apparently.

I think you have misunderstood what "extraordinary circumstance" actually is in the case of delay compensation
Some others have raised similar questions re snow in winter is some airports not being extraordinary because they are expected so must be part of running an airline!
Think of reasons for delay falling into 2 categories
1) Those within the airlines control....delayed staff, technical problems etc. These the airline can take steps to avoid..they can have standby crew, they are responsible for maintenance of the aircraft etc
2) then we get to elements which the airline cannot control e.g. weather, Air Traffic and now bird strikes (due to being related to following the course Air Traffic have directed)

I am not sure why you believe there will be an increase in bird strikes. All bird strikes are required to be reported so it is unlikely that it will be used as a simple compensation get-out

They won't do it as a stock response because bird strikes have to be recorded.
They can't risk being shown as clearly making something up which can easily be checked.
When bird strikes happen there is apparently a distinct smell.
