I hope that somebody can help me as my pc seems to have a major problem, long story but will try to keep it brief:
On start up-it takes ages-now have the Packard Bell Home page instead of my own personel wallpaper image.
Windows cannot find local profile etc.
Fault - RUNDLL "an exception occured whilst trying to run IEDKCS 32,brand e4 sign up.
Cannot use system restore, will not restore to earlier time.
Lost all pictures ( lucky as all backed up to memory stick ) lost all documents, lost all music exept sample music.
Ran TUNE UP 1 CLICK MAINTENANCE
Clean Registry -37 faults every time i start it.
Any help will be realy appreciated but i think this is a major fault that may only be resolved by purchase of a new pc:(

I do not think you need a new PC until you have determined where the fault is.
We need the spec of your machine, sounds Like you might be running old version of Windows, maybe 7 or even XP.
Would also help if you can tell us the specification, right click computer or my computer and click on properties, report back here what you get.
So the errors suggest your profile was corrupted, we do not know why, could be hard disk problem or could be a virus.
To begin with start by creating a new username, you do this by going to start menu and typing User until you see User Accounts.
Then "Manage another account", then Create a New Account, give it a name and make sure it is a standard user, then create a 2nd one and call it AdminBKP or similar. Set passwords for each of these, then log out and try to log into each of these.
Report back how you get on and we can then look at recovering your data (assuming the profiles load OK with no errors). Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -
It's very unlikely that you have lost any data because it doesn't sound like a hard disk failure. So even if you can't get the computer working again you should still be able to take the drive out and access it from a caddy.0

Personally, with so little info would start with mint linux bootable CD/USB - DO NOT INSTALL THE SOFTWARE ONTO THE DISK, but let it run from memory, and install Antivirus onto the Linux, update the AV database, and let it scan all the partitions. In the past, I have used both Bitdefenderer and Clam AV

This get rid of the really nasty stuff, if there is any. After the other stuff can be sorted put via malwarebytes and friends from within windows0 -

Thanks for info, yes it is running Windows XP.
The pc is a Packard Bell Celeron cpu 3.33 ghz
3.32 ghz,1.93 gb of ram.
Have created a new account as you sugested and it works, keeps the wallpapers and has found all of my photos in Picasa 3.
Also when i visit a web page for the second time it does not mention cookies also this web page remembers me ( as requested ) and keeps me signed in.
Will continue with this user account and see what happens.
Do not know what caused the fault as i never open a e-mail with attachments unless i know who it is from,i have also run my anti virus program and it says my pc is clean.
Again thanks for the help.:)0 -
Make sure that you have two accounts, one for Admin tasks and one for Standard User as described above, only use the Standard.
I suspect your profile was just damaged, but you may want to check your hard disk. XP is old and not secure as MS stopped updates years ago, so backup your data regulalrly and consider saving for a new or second hand PC.Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -

Thanks, how do i check the hard drive,i have checked the programs available in the folder "system tools " but cannot see anything,is it something i do on start up?0 -
As it is XP I had to check!
This one from within Windows
https://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/app_disk_logical.mspx?mfr=true
This one from CMD
http://www.wikihow.com/Run-a-Chkdsk-Function-on-Windows-XP
I can refer you to a Hiren boot cd which has diagnostics for testing hardware, some of the utils therein can overwrite your disk, you have to only run read tests. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -

Thanks, have run the hard disk check program,it found corrupt clusters which it has " repaired " but will continue useing the new user profile which appears to be ok.thanks for help.:T0 -
Ganga, you need to think hard about ending the use of XP and saving for a new PC. A Refurbished laptop running Windows 7 or 10 would give you some years of use. I think you should look on this as a warning and not just carry on without a plan to replace your ageing, potential problem PC.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Did you find all your old data?
If I remember correctly in XP it will be in 'Documents and settings' under your old username.
Look in there while logged in as an administrator.0
