Time to dig out fake details if I wish to continue using iPlayer to listen to the radio at work.

Personal recommendations - "Hey, you watched this program, might we suggest something completely random"

I've just gone into the iPlayer and watched a show without signing in.

It just says that "soon" you will need to login - not yet though.

iPlayer already has programme recommendations. When you've watched a programme, it shows other related programmes.

All platforms are in different stages of development.
That the iPlayer is now subject to the licence fee is undoubted.

There was something in the news article about the BBC being able to identify someone from their email address - I'm not too sure how they could do this

The idiosyncrasies are irrelevant. If one wishes to watch the BBC iPlayer, one now needs a TV licence.

Not quite right - "one now legally requires a TV license" but you don't need a license -plenty of ways round it on a PC/ Android box.
