Meter Box
Hello,
Just a quick query about the replacement of the box surrounding my gas meter, it is in need of a replacement as currently its boxed in via a small bricked and timber roofed unit (which is just crumbling), I would rather scrap it all and have the traditional plastic box on, I think I understand that's its the property owners responsibility for this, but suppose I am really asking, is it easy to fit the plastic boxes yourself? Or do you need a gas person/ company to do this, if so any recommendations or anyone with experiences of swapping them out who can provide any info.
Thanks!

If you need to move the meter, I think you'll need to contact the supplier to do that.
Otherwise, fitting the plastic box is simple enough.
(But the issue is the meter goes in the box, so you usually need to remove it to fit the box)0 -
You can get the boxes from builders merchants - you may be able just to get the door and frame, in which case you wont be touching the meter itself. If not have a complete unit and butcher it to suit your purpose.
One thing to watch the sizes have changed over the yearsNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
