Mobile Police Van - Distance checker?
Comments
-
The bad news is that when you first spot the van, there's a second of thinking time, a second of panic, then you hit the brakes, then you look at your speedo, by which time I guess there's a 5mph bleed-off. The good news is that your speedo could be reading about 2mph more than actual.
Both my car and Mrs U's car show exactly the same differential when compared with our sat navs. There again, the sat navs may be screwed. Neither the speedos nor the sat navs I suspect are pinpoint accurate.
Keep us informed to see if that theory pans out.
Waamo jr borrowed the motor the other day. I discovered he had turned on the speeding warning system whilst I was on the motorway0 -
I was doing +-46/47 mph in a 40mphnzone, and I saw a police van parked in the centre of the road. It was about 300/400 m away, I literally hit breaks and carried on by at 35mph. The back of the van was facing me, with its back window half open, I couldn't see a gun but assume it may have been inside? What distance could they snap you at?
What penalties can I except if caught ?
You type of drivers are annoying.
Sorry it's just that I have this almost daily on the M4 average speed camera zone 50mph, it's quiet and the driver in front decides 40-45mph is ok and once passed foot down!0 -

Surely if they are 'average speed' cameras, slowing down in front of them won't have much impact if the other speed between them has been much over the limit? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I had a police mobile van , not average speed checks today.. I'm hopping they were indeed packing up. As they were gone 5 minutes once I turned around to go home from the shops,,. Gutted0
