Neighbour selling property and my car in the photo.

I've just noticed the next door property is now up for sale on the local property register. The issue I have is that because our drives are side by side my car/reg plate are clearly visible in the photo.

Relations between me and the family since their mother died have not been particularly cordial, so my question is am I within my rights to contact selling agents/solicitors to request that photo's are amended and reg plate obscured.

Estate agents shouldn't have anyone's reg plates in the photos - contact them and ask them to blur it out. They don't need to re-shoot, can be edited on Paint or other similar programmes!

Can you clearly explain exactly what the problem is with your car reg being in a photo?

You can of course ask, but you can't require them to remove it.

Not sure what the problem is - parked outside somewhere embarrassing I could maybe understand, but parked outside its own home?

Why would this bother anyone ? People looking on right move etc will be looking at the house and interior. I can't imagine anyone paying attention to your car. And your registration is visible in your drive, when you drive around etc so what issue would there be with someone seeing it.

    First world problems !

It shouldn't f***ing be there - its not part of the sale or their property, if I wanted my car and reg all over the internet I'd post it on faceache :D

I do tend to agree. I always feel there is a risk if someone sees the numberplate, car and can work out the address of the property.

Thanks for your advice I did call the solicitors shortly after you posted, the receptionist did make some attempt to "manage" my call.....ie solicitor handling the sale wasn't available ...ha, ha, ha - but checked website at 17.30 and yes reg plate obscured and photo shunted to the left ever so slightly - only half my car in photo now :T.

    You can do that daily.

    I think I'm missing something.

You need to cover it up while out driving as well. Once they know where you live then if they see the car going along the road then they know that you are not at home and can possibly burgle your house in peace.

You may but need a tin foil hat as well
