Murtle, I live in the South East (border Bucks and herts)
My MIL who lives in Sussex always has hundreds to go to.
Found my local one by driving past....
I generally don't even go early as most of my purchases are not "hot items". Mostly board games (pictionnary jr, monopoly jr, scrabble jr, etc...), toys, plants and books and I found that by the end of the morning they'll give you the stuff for a song... save on packing!I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
I'm very lucky because our most regular one runs twice a week and combines with the market. It does tend to fill up with antique dealers selling things at inflated prices though.
The last time I managed to get to one I bought a Kenwood Juicer for a fiver that is currently selling in Asda for £40. Everything I needed to start winemaking for £8, a Spong mincer for £1, a galvanised bucket and feeder for when I get my chickens and a couple of recipe books. It was a very successful day
At one point everything in my kitchen came from a car boot sale including my tumble dryer which cost me £5 and lasted me 5 years.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Last week I got a huge crawl through caterpillar for the garden, he's got big boots on and I fell in love with him. All my little charges will be out crawling through him during the summer and he was a bargin at £15. Came home and looked up the makers name online and he's still a current line and sells for ..........£189!!!!!!!! I nearly wet myself.......I mean, he's lovely, but not that lovely!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

I saved my money & didn't go this morning although we did think about it, We have 2 very big ones near us but they seem to be stuffed full of traders selling new stuff at, quite frankly, hiked up prices to idiots who think they are getting a bargain beacuse simply beacuse it's a car boot sale, but I think they are expensive especially as there are no gurantees or return policies & you have to hump your purcahse across a muddy fied to your car then queue for 40 minuteds to get out of the damn field:mad: ..........sorry, rant over:o .
But seriously, we are looking for a new half height bookcase, nothing special or fancy or even good condition, we don't mind as long as it is the right size. The only ones we have been able to find so far this year are brand new pine ones at £60+:p
The good thing about ours is they both have vans selling fruit & veg, a basket for £1, usually very soft but pleanty of it & ideal for making sauces, puddings etc;) Last season I once got 30 soft mangos for £1 which I stewed & put in the freezer & served in crumble, rice pudding & with ice cream for about 6 months!Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
Went to one car boot sale last year and saw a huge rip off. Evidently someone had been watching too much "Flog It" or the like as they had got a Blue Peter book for sale for £10. Being a (ahem) Blue Peter book collecter, I knew that it wasn't worth any more than £1 as it was one of the most recent ones, and you could get one similar on ebay for 99p. I'm being dragged along to help sell off loads of my Nan's stuff so I'm taking some bits too.
I'll be the one selling the flowery tea pot and hundreds of tomato plants :rotfl:When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
