Jewelry Insurance Advice - Disclosing IVA

Morning all,

I've recently purchased a diamond ring and initially approached their suggested insurance company, TH March. I went through the whole process fine and then it asked for some details on the wearer, my partner.

At this point it asks for any disclosures around debt, IVA's, bankruptcy, etc. My partner does have an agreement in place with a credit card company she couldn't afford to pay back prior to us meeting (she is now making payments with them according to their schedule). As soon as I put this in they obviously stopped the online quote and asked for more information.

Eventually, after a phone call they said they had to reach out to their senior teams for a decision. At this point I'm panicking as I'm desperate to get the ring insured just incase.

So I start looking at alternative providers to see how quotes compare and I come across Juno by Worryandpeace. Reviews are good, price is comparable (perhaps even cheaper) and I'm happy with the terms and key facts.

So I go through the process, put in all the same details but there is no where to disclose anything such as that about the wearer. Quote goes through fine and the ring is now insured.

Then, I get a call back from TH March to say unfortunately they can't offer a quote based on the information I provided. So now I'm worried I've missed something with Juno but for the life of me can't find anything.

Am I being needlessly paranoid now do you think? I filled in the information they asked for correctly so I'm wondering do they perhaps not mind taking on a more risky insurance? I'm assuming the reason it was denied was because of the risk she may fake a loss though I'm the one who would get that money, not her. Seems a bit too cautious of them in my eyes but it is their money on the line.

Any thoughts and advice? My own head says I filled in all the information required truthfully so it should be fine but would like some affirmation or, if I'm mistaken, some guidance on how to proceed.

Thank you in advance.

If you answered every question correctly, and can agree to all their assumptions at the end of the form, then you shouldn't have a problem.

Different insurers have different criteria, some will insure someone with an IVA, others won't - their target markets may just be different.

When you get the policy documents through double check it all to make sure you answered everything correctly.
