PPI Claim HSBC CC

HI

Ive used Resolver tool to start a claim against HSBC for a Credit Card I took out in about 2000.

The PPI wasn't on the card when I took it out, however I was followed up with a high pressure call shortly afterwards claiming that it should have been required when I took the card - the rest is history. I stopped the PPI in 2014, and am now starting a claim.

I have completed the letter suggested for the HSBC PPI and emailed it to them via Resolver. I have now received two letters from HSBC:

1) A letter stating extensive search taken place in accordance with the Ombudsman Service, and no record found of purchasing PPI. Dated 18th April. They state no further action and will close their records, however - should I be able to provide subsequent documentation they will investigate further
2) Acknowledging my letter and starting investigation - Dated 26th April (stating 8 weeks to investigate)!!!

Luckily i have a years worth of statements from 2010-2011 that show:

INSURANCE PREMIUM - 79p PER £100 BALANCE

Question is - what to do next? My initial letter went on the 11th April, given the 2 confusing letters which contradict each other - how should I proceed?

Feel I have a strong case over a period of 14 years or so, so want to ensure that I do things timely and correctly!

Thanks in advance for help

Did you actually pay any ppi.
The info you give says what the charge will be but like i say. Did you actually pay any.

And why do you think you were miss sold

If you cleared the balance each month you wouldnt pay any.

Your story in 2011 was rather different:

    Hi,

Ive never really read my CC bill from HSBC, as long as it has always been about right its been ok.

However I have just noticed a Insurance Premium charge at the rate of 79p per £100 balance on the card? Is this a PPI charge?

I have had a CC with HSBC since i was probably 18 or 20 years old and am now 31. I have never paid attention to this before, probably as it was a samll amount and didnt register with me?!

I dont remeber how i took out this account - whether it was in branch or online - or when i agreed to this insurance charge.

If it is PPI - ive certainly never claimed or would have wanted to, something in my mind is suggesting it was done over the phone during a call from them, but i cant remember.

Does anyone have any idea what my next steps should be?

The card is still active, with a balance and this insurance charge on it. I guess my first step would be to get hold of HSBC and cancel this insurance??

Any help very much appreciated as getting married next year and need as much cash as possible to help!!

A statement quoting the price of PPI is not the same as paying it. Did those statements include a entry for a PPI premium?

Show them the statements covering that period that include an actual PPI premium being paid.

    Quick update.

After the 2 contradictory letters received and mentioned above - I have not contacted HSBC further as I have been away.

I have now received a PPI redress for in excess of £19k without any further communication other than the initial letter sent via resolver at the outset.

My message to anyone with HSBC CC statements showing the INSURANCE PREMIUM notice on your statement is to review when and where this started being applied, the circumstances involved - then if you feel that a justifiable claim can be made - then do so.

    Good luck to all.

Mmm, amazingly fast for a £19k payout, well done.

The initial post does refer to letters dated the end of April, so the OP must have complained well before then.

Having said that, the new update seems to be very at odds with the OP's posts from 2011....

Fast turnaround, then, much less than eight weeks.

A 7 week turnaround is hardly 'much less than 8 weeks'
