Anyone any experience? Considering a switch to either the £8pm or £10pm plans that finish today both offering good data allowance. I am aware it is through EE Network of which we have no experience.
I am currently on Vodafone & son on Tesco Mobile.

I've recently switched 4 phones over and imported numbers with PAC codes without issue. so far so good.

My only small disappointment so far is that there is no app to monitor call/data usage (yet?) but it can be seen on the web pages for the account.

Some other users have commented that short SMS codes are not supported on PlusNet - but that's no loss for me.

The account supports a smart cap (initially set to £10 - I've changed to £2) so quite friendly if you are paying the bill for a child.

I checked coverage in the locations important to me before switching.

Tesco retentions are a little annoying when applying for PAC code.

I'm with Plusnet like @Lorian above and they've got everything spot on as regards their service. The lack of support for 5 digit shortcodes is perhaps the only stumbling point although I think they'll add it in at some point. people have been reporting problems with banking apps which call automatically to verify but I think that's tied into the 5 digit shortcode issue.

Check coverage with the Ofcom site first for home and your most visited places (work for instance) and then have a look at EE's. I've included O2's & Vodafone's coverage checkers too so you can compare with what you experience at the moment to see how accurate they are. I find Ofcom's very much on the money (the only reason I'd go back to a O2 carrier is slightly better coverage here).

    https://ee.co.uk/why-ee/mobile-coverage

    http://www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker

Edit: for some reason the O2 checker doesn't work in Chrome but is fine in IE11 at least.

Beware that the Plusnet Mobile price list has incorrect and misleading information for some types of calls. They are in no hurry to correct it.

Pretty sure that that was corrected awhile back, can't see any obvious errors:

"calls to numbers beginning 0800, 0808, 03, which are free of charge"
Incorrect assertion that calls to 03 numbers are free. They are not. They are inclusive on the same basis as calls to UK landline and UK mobile numbers.

When I queried this, their customer support said that calls to 03 numbers are included in your allowance, but when your allowance runs out calls to 03 numbers are free, just like 0800 and 0808 numbers. This is obviously not correct.

Upon querying this again, their story changed to say that 03 numbers are inclusive in your allowance, but when the allowance runs out calls to 0345 numbers will be charged and calls to 0300 numbers are free of charge.

As the answers given were becoming ever more incorrect, I gave up on communicating with people who obviously haven't got a clue what they are talking about.

The Plusnet price list fails to clarify that UK mobile numbers start 071-075 and 077-079. Such an indication would help signal that 070 and 076 numbers are not mobile numbers and are premium rate.

Their list states that numbers allocated in CI and IoM are non-inclusive but fails to supply a list of the applicable prefixes.

Plusnet's list states that calls to 0500 numbers cost 20p per minute. On another page they are listed as being free.

Plusnet has a list of "call-forwarding numbers", otherwise known as "non-mobile numbers" for which they charge extra - but Ofcom capped the termination rates for these prefixes on 1 May 2015 such that they are the same as for calls to all other UK mobile numbers. Charging extra for calls to these prefixes is simple profiteering.

Their list says that text messages to mobile numbers are inclusive in allowances and implies that text messages sent to landline numbers are chargeable. Indeed, a separate entry has a price for "Send a text message to UK landlines". Plusnet customer support says that text messages sent to landline numbers are inclusive in allowances but this contradicts the information on their website.

Their FAQ fails to make clear that calls to, and text messages to and from, mobile shortcodes are not supported.

Their price list omits entries for the following calls:
    Non-geographic numbers starting 080
    Corporate numbers starting 055
    VoIP numbers starting 056
    Police non-emergency number (101)
Powercuts and blackouts emergency helpline (105)
    NHS non-emergency number (111)
    Emergency services (112 or 999)
Helplines of Social Importance starting 116
    Speaking clock (123?)

More than six months has elapsed since these issues were raised and none of them have been addressed.

I joined Plusnet mobile a few weeks ago and was initially happy with them, until I went on holiday to Croatia last week where I couldn't get a roaming connection the whole time I was there. Plusnet customer service couldn't explain why and simply told me "we can't always guarantee service when abroad". Other people I was travelling with had no trouble getting roaming connections with EE and O2. Subsequently I've found a thread on the official Plusnet discussion board where numerous people have reported the same issue (I was going to paste a link but as a new user I'm not allowed - google 'plusnet roaming not working' and you'll find it).

Something to bear in mind if considering Plusnet mobile if roaming is important to you. Personally I'll be switching to another network immediately.

Thanks for the link. If it's only certain countries that are affected it's less of an issue for me, though Croatia is a fairly major tourist destination so you would have thought it'd be covered...

I suspect if the Croatia issue continues (if confirmed) they will have to do something about it soon, as it's one of the roam-like-home destinations they just announced.

Not sure if you can see this, if not let me know and I'll paste the text:

If you do find you are in Croatia and automatic roaming doesn't work I'd be tempted to manually roam to T-Mobile if the handset allows it, and see what happens.

Yes I can see that page, thanks. My handset listed three available networks (though I can't remember what they were called) and I tried to manually connect to each of them, but got "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network" every time.
