Well my 4 year old daughter has only ever wanted one present for Xmas and birthdays until this year. This is because we have always watched CBeeBees 24/7 until she discovered Channel 5 Milkshake. Now she is subject to advertising!!
    She wants:
Wii (plays with her older cousins very well) still think she is too young
    Mummy Make Me Better Doll
Look Mummy I can swim Doll
New Baby Annabel Doll (has the old one but new one moves head)
Baby Chou Chou Doll and anything that is an accessory that is advertised
The one that learns itsname (I cant remember what it is called)
    Cinderella room make over
If she sees Baby Alive that will be on list.

So how do I disappoint her now she understands Santa etc, she thinks he brings what ever children want. I have tried to make her understand that there are lots of children but she is very philosophical when explaining to me that if she lets him know early enough he will sort it out. I suppose it was dangerous letting her have the presents she wanted in the past.
We always told sprog that Mummy and Daddy bought the presents. Grandad had Santa's number and rang him up to collect the presents. He only bought them back if he was good. Everytime he was naughty, he lost a present and it went to a poor child as Grandad could ring up and tell Santa. That's why he couldn't have everything he wanted as we couldn't afford it.

He's 14 now so we don't have to go through all this now.:rotfl:

Totally agree to the milkshake advertising :rotfl: My daughter is 3 and wants all them too, and the dora till, fisher price my baby and everything in between!

..luckily she usually forgets what she has asked for when the next one comes along.

I told my kids that Father Christmas will put something in their stocking if they are good. They are able to look at this before coming down to the pressies we, the hard working parents have bought them!!

This always seemed to work!! Santa then doesnt appear to give more to the wealthy kids!! Its the parents that do!! Santa gives equally!!
ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷

My eldest DS is getting ninky nonk (he is 4) and a few (no that is a lie - loads of little things probably by the time we have finished) bits and pieces. He only watches CBeebies so isn't subject to advertising but he thinks he can have everything he sees in the shops. He has far too much already and his birthday is in three weeks. sigh..

The little DS (20 mths) is getting some playmobil stuff and a ride on tractor but we haven't finalised anything yet! Then he gets his birthday after Christmas!! double sigh!!!
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Kids don't play with half the things they get.

Since finding this website the things I buy are reduced or I have shopped around.

Daughter this year Age 10 would like everything High School Musical and my son age 4 would like a leapster.

Its a bad habit to get into to buy them too much because they then expect it year after year.

Last year the annual you buy before christmas eg £4.99 was £1 in waterstones give them a voucher for £5 and they can get five!!!

My son has one it loves it but they are pricey for what they do. His roars and walks a few steps, but it has lasted really well including being dropped form quite a height.

Simple to operate, Didicar requires no batteries and there are no motors or pedals. Just turn the steering wheel gently left to right, and the Didicar moves smoothly forward. The unique movement generates not only wonder and excitement but, being child powered as it is, Didicar provides exercise and recreation for the rider, working the arms and legs.

The Didicar looks great, but it's also sturdy, solid and strong, with a maximum user weight of 120kg (over 18 stone!)

I brought one of these for my son who is 2yrsthis month.
He cant quite understand to rest his feet on the front, he rather push himself along using his feet. There is enough room for me and him to sit on it together. Its really fun, my husband and my sis and brother have all had a go and love it. It can go pretty fast down a hill, and very robust bulit to last. Very easy to put together, work best on flat concerte ground. Suitable for indoors, thats if ur house is big enough. And if u want all ur paint work to be marked. So more of a out door toy, i know not the best present for xmas if the weather out side is winter like. But i thought it would b a great alternive to toys tat have all ready been mentioned. They sell these on one of the shopping channels. And at a great price too.

They cost £39.99 with post and packaging free if u buy it from www.didicar.co.uk.. or at amazon They can only be purchased on line, u wont find them in the shops. Be careful there is many copy cat versions of this toy. Which may not be as well built as the real "didi cars" , in the usa they are called "plasma cars"
If you "youtube" didicar many video of it in action, even a bunch of adults having a race. LOL
