I'm thinking of signing up for this deal from Newnet: 8mb speed for £9.49/month 12 month contract. Transfer limit of 1gig but you can add extra gs for £1.49 per gig

http://www.newnet.co.uk/broadband/homelite12.phpPre-paid additional bandwidth £1.10/GB (purchased in 10GB blocks) Additional bandwidth paid in arrears at £1.30/GB/Month (purchased in 3GB blocks) Uncapped service - No limit to usage - pay as you use for additional traffic.
1GB = £9.49 if you pay for a year in advance.
11GB = £20.49 pre-paid 10 GB
1.01GB = £13.39 paid in arrears i.e. go just over 1GB and you will be charged for 3GB.

What a rip-off!

Fine if you think that this is a good deal, then go ahead but I still think that these are rip-off prices.
Basically approx £10 per month gets you 1GB usage - Pathetic is the only word for that! You can easily use 1GB on dial-up, so on BB most users will use much more.
Go slightly over and you then have to pay for an extra 3GB even though you havn't actually used it.
If you pre-pay for an extra 10GB it works out at £20.49 for 11GB which is again not good value. There are many ISP giving a better deal if you look for them.:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Not much use to me, I used over 50Gig last month although that is my highest ever and with download TV now available 1 gig may last a day or two.
I do like the look of this option:Our Original ADSL service offers unlimited broadband for a fixed monthly fee with no usage limits, no port blocking, no traffic throttling or shaping.
Orginal ADSL is available at a choice of 512kb/s, 1Mb or 2Mb download speeds with a fixed upload speed of 256Kb/s. There is an option to have this based upon a MAX connection in which case the download speed is fixed with the upload speed being rate adaptive up to 448kb/s* for the same price.

If you want a stable, reliable, uncapped, consistant service with excellent support then Newnet fits the bill I would say.
You can keep an eye on your usage via online bandwidth monitor.
They have a regular presence on their forum at www.thinkbroadband.com , some queries answered within hours by Newnet staff.
Sure there are cheaper ISPs out there but as with everything else, you get what you pay for.
Don't see how its a rip-off if you get a quality product at a reasonable price and for me, with no disruptions in service and constant speeds 24/7 since I joined in July, its been a welcome change.:DKeeping the pedants at bay - dot an i or cross a t only if you feel you really can't stop yourself:p0
