Poor signal with Three/Orange..

Options
Has anyone else been having trouble with coverage with three in the last week. I have been having trouble with a lot of dropped calls and since last Wednesday I have had no coverage at home at all. I had good signal strength and signed the 18 month contract on this.. Had I of known that Three was changing there 2g roaming partner from o2 to orange I would not of gone with Three. I now have a 10 month contract left on a service that is of no use to me at all..
Is there anything that can be done? I was a very happy Three customer until last Wednesday.. I do know that there will be winners and losers in this but I do believe I was mis-sold a contract. I agreed to pay for a minimum of 18 months for a level of service that I believe should at least stay the same as when I entered the contract..

A very  Edna

Similar problems here. Each time I've phoned them they've suggested various tweaks to my phone, but at the end of the day, the signal in my house is rubbish.

They'll fob you off with stories of how they are working to improve, etc......

I phoned them earlier and they done the same to me. They told me that there was reduced service while the change over happened and to give it a couple of days.. I to went through the manual search and the remove battery and sim.. They also told me orange had excellent coverage in my area and they wouldn't listen when I told them orange had always been poor where I lived. It's so annoying that there seems nothing that can be done about it.. I could understand if I moved house but I havn't... and

One reason why my number gets ported to a different network tomorrow.

    Ken.
That's my mutt in the picture above.
  • OMG - I didn't know any of this. I'm with Three and couldn't work out why my coverage has dropped recently. How did you find out about all this??

I phoned three earlier and was told that my contract was one that had stopped using O2 on the 2g network.. I don't know if this is being rolled out over a period of time or it's happened to all of us..:(

Well I phoned to terminate contract yesterday - on the first day I could and this time they tried to convince me that it was due to my handset Nokia 6280 (?) - apparently the software on this phone is responsible for my poor signal. There was literally steam coming from my ears as the CS assistant spoke it was such twaddle!

She had no answer when I asked why they hadn't contacted ME to suggest that they would be sending me a new handset. She even agreed that I didn't use many of my minutes and I asked her to consider why that may be.

When I explained I wanted a N95 she laughed and said I wouldn't take photos after the first few weeks. I explained my work role and the reason why I take photos regularly and she said "Oh!! I thought you were about 16" she was sooooooooooo rude.

I now have a PAC code.

    Yup,
My daughter had a 3 phone here in Norwich for apx 12 months with no probs ( she mainly texts friends). So I signed up but found I couldn't receive calls and outgoing ones which got through were indecipherable to recipient. I kept msising calls which were later rerceived as voicemail. At one stage I was trying to meet up with my wife who was apx 100 metres away but couldn't get through in the city centre! A call to the Three Help desk then dropped out!
When I rerturned to the shop I was behind another guy returnig his phone for the same reason. Various tweaks suggested made no difference so phone went back on day 13. When shop admitted they were getting a lot of Three returns "because they seme to be having problems with the network".
Now on 02 simplicity (200 mins, 200 texts, £15) , better deal better coverage. Goodbye Three.
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!
  • I live in a small town in mid wales - only coverage 2 or 3g here is on Orange. Looking at moving to 3 now as when at home I'll still get the same coverage - yet when out and about I'll get 3g coverage where it's available.

I think I must be one of the few that's on a winner with this change!

Prior to this, 2g coverage was from O2 who have no coverage here, so Three was never an option till then...
