E-On taking money out of my ESA without permission

Even if Eon allowed you to switch, which is unlikely, what other supplier do you expect to take you on if you fail a credit check? I'd agree with others that a PPM might be the best solution.
Ranting abuse on here to those trying to help you is not going to get you very far, and you haven't even stated what the debt is, or how the benefit deductions came about. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
The £30 a week can't be from your ESA as the max deduction is £3.60....0

Thats not true, companies can take a fixed amount for arrears plus an amount based on annual consumption if the claimant isn't budgeting to pay for their fuel costs.
"
How the scheme works
We deduct a fixed amount to clear the arrears. This is legislated for in Schedule 9 to the Social Security (Claims and Payments) Regulations 1987. The amount is deducted from the individual’s benefit at source and paid directly to the supplier until the debt is cleared.
An additional amount is taken to cover current consumption costs. This is to prevent further debt accruing and to help with budgeting in the future. This figure should be an average amount based on annual usage.
In some cases, where an individual opts to budget for their on-going consumption by use of a pre-payment meter, only an arrears deduction may be taken.0 -
No one in the E-on company is struggling to have enough money to eat and yet they can forcefully take cash from a disabled persons benefits, what else are they in the news for?
Last time I checked they were taking money from the elderly harassing the elderly with bailiffs and confusing everyone with complex rates so they can better extract money from them.0 -
I have other debts like my water bill and rent arrears can I choose to give the money to a higher priority debt or just a company I prefer? Id rather the money goes to Anglia water than E-on they actually have morals as a company0

This would be your current consumption and debt recovery.
You must have agreed to this being set up with Eon otherwise how else would they have your NI number?
Please refrain from using bad language, it's not Eon's fault you are in arrears but the FD payment plan will help you get out of debt.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -

You are aware that the other option is a PPM? That way you'd have no choice but to pay even more for your energy?
You honestly can't just use energy (Or water for that matter) and expect not to pay for it. Both are priority payments one way or the other.
If E-On have acted improperly you need advice from the CAB. If you've just not opened letters from them and/or the DWP and buried your head in the sand then you may have missed any opportunity to have stopped this before.
E-On have a hardship fund, have you applied? https://www.eonenergy.com/for-your-home/saving-energy/need-little-extra-help/energy-fund
In debt and looking for help? Look here for the MSE Debt Help Guide.
Also, If you need any free and impartial debt advice, the National Debtline, Stepchange, and the CAB can help.0 -

I urge you to visit your local CAB and ask for debt advice from an organisation that has experience of dealing with the difficulties that you find yourself in. You cannot ignore the fact that you are using energy and it has to be paid for; equally, you cannot choose not to pay a supplier because you have a problem with the way it goes about its business. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
