Cold caller, selling driveways, no easily found genuine business premises, willing to accept payment fully in cash, and no cooling-off period.
I would certainly avoid, and has been said, make sure I had evidence I could show others that I had cancelled.0 -
OP, don't leave the house for a few days in case these guys deny you cancelled and show up to start work.0

Thanks once again! I recorded our conversation on the phone and have sent the email on 6th May.
In the email have also stated that i don't dispute that they do a good job but without explicitly specifying the 10 year guarantee on contract and not being able to find the business i would not be interested.
Also luckily managed to work from home for a couple of days.0 -
You are dealing with a rogue trader who will in all likelihood do a shoddy job. I strongly suggest reporting the matter to Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice Consumer Service 03454 040506.
You should have been given full written details of your cancellation rights and the paperwork must include the legal name of the business. This would have to either be the Ltd Company name Eg "Dodgy Driveways Ltd", the owner of the business Eg "Mr Kelvin Connors" (if a sole trader), or the names of the partners in the business (if a partnership) "Kevin Connors & Patrick Smith". Without this information the contract is not compliant with the law and is unlikely to be enforceable.
Don't pay anything. Don't allow them to carry out any work. Make sure that you have written to them (email or rec delivery letter) informing them that you do not want to proceed with the contract and that any further contact must be done so in writing.
If the trader returns and causes any problems then phone the police.
In all likelihood the trader will move on and target someone else - a softer target.
And never EVER sign up to a contract with a cold caller. Doorstep or telephone. They are likely to be rogues and are certain to be poor value. Shop around for quotes and source traders from proper approved trader schemes such as Buy With Confidence.0 -
The contract will be an off-premise contract therefore cancellable as per the Consumer Contract (Information Cancellation and additional charges) Reg 2013.0
