New build free internet

Hi,
Has anybody any experience of recieiving free internet when recently moving into a new build house, as outlined in the following link ?

The house owner doesn't get free internet.
The builder will be getting BT install the FTTP cabling etc to the new houses for free.

When you move in you will still have to pay a provider to give you a service as normal

That's 'free' for the construction company or builders, not you.

NOTE: We put “free” in speech marks because excess construction charges will continue to apply where the site is more than 4.5 kilometres from Openreach’s existing fibre network and of course consumers still have to pay for the service itself.

The other thing to bear in mind, as pointed out in the article, is that not many ISPs offer FTTP yet.

You may find yourself limited to BT as the only 'reasonably priced' provider. Also, the likes of Zen and A&A may not serve that particular location.

Also if 'slow' ADSL is sufficient for your needs, paying fibre prices is a needless expense.

If it is new build FTTP (FTTP Greenfield) then it is unlikely that you will be able to get ADSL as there are no copper lines.

Of course, but I was meaning to point out that, far from being an advantage (ie not free), the service could mean that you are forced to pay a premium price for a product you wouldn't even consider elsewhere (ie cheaper ADSL would suffice, elsewhere).
