Crack on panoramic roof help

I mean a full panoramic roof (fixed, non opening type).
Right now, it's a trivial cosmetic issue that you never even noticed when you were viewing the car. If it were me, I'd be flagging it with the manufacturer's customer services, and bypassing the dealer. I wouldn't be looking to get anything done about it yet - but I would be making sure there was a note on the file for if it developed into a more major issue later.0 -
So replacing it will be a major semi-structural job. The glass is bonded - glued, basically - to the shell. Replacing it is non-trivial.

+1
The O/P - having noted scuffs, stonechips and now cracks in the glass of this car would
(a) have been better not buying this particular car in the first place as there are no world shortage of Qashqais.
(b) if they are that fussy, buy new.0 -

The crack cannot be felt on top or underneath, so it appears to be in a middle layer of the glass. Dealer has told me its not covered under warranty, unless it was leaking (which it is not). I would have thought it would be a manufacturing issue as well, as no stone chip or impact can be seen on it.0 -
Correct me if I am wrong, but, if this is Triplex glass, isn't the middle layer plastic ?Started my job at the bottom and liked it0

I bought a Peugeot 308 SW with the panoramic roof. My insurer (IAM surety) changed vehicles on my existing policy, after reading that the roof may not be covered I checked and it wasn't so IAM surety changed me to a different company at no extra cost.0

As the car needed a wheel replacing, and yesterday i was told a new part for the steering column...the "obessive Nissan checks" obviously are more talk than actually undertaken.
I dont think i am fussy, a crack is a crack. Minor scratches i would not mind, and expect.0 -
If you buy a car with a panoramic roof I'd suggest shopping around for an insurance company which will cover it as standard, many won't, the rear roof on one of mine was broken and the replacement was over 4k, I was very happy I noticed the amount of glass on the roof before shopping around for insurance0

When my car was in the dealership workshop yesterday, the dash cam was left on...some shocking comments made, possibly inferring to me, and a job they claimed try fix was not done!
Is your dashcam a standard one with a typical 120 degree field of vision and which cannot see through solid objects? If so, can you tell me how you are certain from the footage that they didn't do the job? Are you a mechanic or know enough about vehicle mechanics to know what was entailed in the fix to know what needed doing and if it was done or not?
Your comment about workshop banter suggests you're quite a paranoid person. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

yes as one can see it has not been done directly & on footage. Anyway deleted that comment as its not relevant to my original post.0 -
Workshop banter is usually much worse that just inferring... : D0
