I am just looking for some advice and please don't have a go at me, all I want is some advice. I am applying for my first provisional Driving Licence on (May 19) as that is when I get paid as I am going to learn to drive, however just wondering, is they any help for funds to help me do lessons? if not, no worries as I will have to cancel my sky (don't care about sky anyway, too much repeats on, not worth the money) if I cancel my sky, then I will be able to afford / manage lessons once a week, but the reason why I want to start learning to drive is I want my own car so I don't have to relay on public transport to get a job, if and when I pass my driving test and I get a car, I will be able get any job without worrying the distance
Any help would be great, thanks!
If you can live comfortable with UC amount, Plus do driving lessons then go a head. I think worry about the lessons. The theory test and practical test which all cost money. Then worry about cars, mot, insurance etc later.
There is no harm in having a full driving licence!0 -
Getting a moped would be a cheaper option and would enable you to save up for a car.0

You just can't win with some people. Somebody looking to improve their chances of employment asks if any help is available and gets slapped down. Maybe it would be better if the OP just decided to claim benefits for life?if I cancel my sky, then I will be able to afford / manage lessons once a week,0

Must write to Jeremy Corbin and the LibDims to suggest they allow driving lessons on benefits.
It could be the vote winner they need!"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Yep and perhaps I'm illogical to - how does anyone know how many precise lessons needed or it takes to actually pass?
Driving lessons took me 4 years on and off on a wage of 11k back in the day!
A lot of driving instructors wanted my money lol! More seriously I've driven well 6 years since maybe as a result of maybe not being speedy into the test centre. Job opportunities don't improve simply because you've access to a car regrettably some employers won't consider you if you live a distance away, whether you've own transport or not. It's got a bit funny since 10 years ago when a hotel in the same postcoded area wouldn't have considered me if they knew I got the bus which stopped over the road. Only in December 16 I went for an interview and was actually asked if I drive? Because they had to be mindful of the car parking availability and sited how a bus stops outside (my, my I thought!)
I can admire the OP's drive.0 -

Why don't you use the money you'll be saving up for a car on the driving lessons, duh0 -

Have you factored into the maths the written test and the driving test,?
In most areas you could purchase a weeks bus pass for less than the cost of a lesson !0 -
It used to be that certain training courses for the unemployed came with a number of free driving lessons. Not sure if they are still available or not.0
