Driving Lessons while on Universal Credit

Evening,

I am just looking for some advice and please don't have a go at me, all I want is some advice. I am applying for my first provisional Driving Licence on (May 19) as that is when I get paid as I am going to learn to drive, however just wondering, is they any help for funds to help me do lessons? if not, no worries as I will have to cancel my sky (don't care about sky anyway, too much repeats on, not worth the money) if I cancel my sky, then I will be able to afford / manage lessons once a week, but the reason why I want to start learning to drive is I want my own car so I don't have to relay on public transport to get a job, if and when I pass my driving test and I get a car, I will be able get any job without worrying the distance :)

Any help would be great, thanks! :)

    No.

But I'd question your reasoning. YES having a driving license will enable you to apply for more jobs - BUT - buying a car and insuring a car can cost you 10x what the lessons do.

In all honesty ... for now ... you'd be better off considering the options of getting a nice moped on the road and passing your test with that, because it gets you mobile ASAP, cheapest - and once you've got a job you can do the lessons/buy a car stuff... with the potential of building up some No Claims Bonus!

Even if you manage to get a cheap car you are likely going to be looking at £2k+ for insurance as a young new driver...something you need a job and savings for first

How are you going to afford a car if you can't afford lessons. Plus mot, tax, fuel and repairs.

My assumption is that they would get a car after they pass their test. Then they won't have the cost of lessons at the same time. Maybe I'm just being too logical?

Wow, just wow. Obviously, when I passed my driving test, I don't need to do them again, duh. but in the meantime, I can start saving up for a car. As long as I have a driving licence and passed my test, that is all that matters at this moment, I just need to focus on these two first!

You just can't win with some people. Somebody looking to improve their chances of employment asks if any help is available and gets slapped down. Maybe it would be better if the OP just decided to claim benefits for life?

Well said TELLIT01 - Like I stated in my original post, I am aiming to get a car of my own very soon once I passed my test so it will be a lot easy for me to get a job, even I can get a job at 6am starts when I have my own transport. I am starting saving up now for my own car! :)

    I've helped Parliament
It used to be that certain training courses for the unemployed came with a number of free driving lessons. Not sure if they are still available or not.

If you read it properly I'm saying if you can't afford lessons you won't be able to afford a car. The car is alor more money.

Then you have all the other stuff on top of running a car. I'm sorry but I've very much doubt they will be able to afford running a car on jsa on top of everything else they need to fund
