    There's no such thing.

But it does seem in this case as if using your Amex card was a good move as it looks like your purchase is eligible for the refund. It doesn't say anything about having to hand over the goods to them so you may even end up with the jacket and your money back.

    See section 1.2 here

Agreed there's no such a thing. It was completely my fault. I should have looked at my receipt more closely.

I find strange if they let you keep the item as well. Yes it's good in the short term but surely this policy is open to a lot of abuse

If people start go abuse it then AE would just close the account of the abuser.

They extend your refund period to 90 days despite what the retailer offers.
Strange I can only find accidental damage or theft insurance for 90 days, which obviously doesn't apply here. Where is the part that says they extend a return period? I missed it somewhere down the line.

Very true! And I hope that Amex would!

On further inspection of the T&Cs there's a £1000 annual cap on claims. Maybe this isn't a lot to some but I still think this is quite generous

This has nothing to due with finding difficultly on returning a faulty item to a store. Amex offers a service called refund protection to its gold and platinum card holders whereby if they offer an extended 90 day returns policy up to the value of £300 per item. For example you can use this service if you are outside the returns policy of the store. You can read more about it at Amex's website if you still need more information

Sometimes I have to hold my hands up and accept that I'm wrong.

    My apologies.

For what it's worth, I've just had a very hassle free hire car excess claim pay out from AMEX. Not the same as your requirements, but a positive sign.

    Good luck.
