Surely if they have refunded the apples with a gift card you can find something in the store to buy. You appear to making a big issue over nothing.IITYYHTBMAD0

The Consumer Rights Act says:Are you sure?
" If the consumer paid money under the contract, the trader must give the refund using the same means of payment as the consumer used, unless the consumer expressly agrees otherwise."
This, to me, means they are obliged to refund to your credit card unless they and you agree to another means of payment. They are willing to pay to a gift card but they are not willing, and are not obliged, to pay cash. (Indeed I strongly suspect they will be prevented, under their contractual agreement with the credit card company, from offering a cash refund.)This surely cant be as people lose cards and pay with different cards. A refund is what the act entitles you to regardless of what card you [aid on
If you had lost the card you could either accept the gift card or go back to your credit card company who should refund any credit balance e.g. after the refund was applied to your account.0 -
It appears the OP does have some trouble managing his credit card portfolio.

Here is another thread he started today:0 -
65p worth of apples is certainly worth the hassle, how dare they not offer a cash refund.0

Its not worth making an issue out of it.0 -
Sounds like sour grapes from the OP...."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Exactly this, the wife works for a payment gateway and they can only refund to the card that was used to make the original payment for this exact reason.0 -

Is this right?
I ask because I had to get a refund from Great Outdoors for some sandals that broke. The credit card I'd bought them with had been lost and cancelled, and GO refused to put the refund on my replacement card. But they were quite happy to refund me in cash. (Only about £30). Were they wrong to do so?
If they were wrong to do so, how would I have been refunded if they can only put it back on the card that was used for the initial purchase? People lose or mis-place credit cards all the time. (Or at least my wife and I do!)0
