No matter what I knit or sew I can't bring myself to wear it for ages, sometimes months! In the end I usually end up wearing it quite happily.
I would suggest putting the jacket away and leave it for a month. After this time you will be able to look at it more rationaly and see it you like it or if it can be altered.
There is so much work in a jacket that it seems a shame to just dispose of it. I think I get too emtionally involved with the things I make and that bit of distance of time really changes my mind.0 -
When I first started sewing I never liked the things that I made for me. But in the 90's when my four kids were small, and my husband left me, I used my sewing skills to stay off of the IS. I managed to make an adverage of 300 wedding dresses a year and become the local dry cleaners repair/alterations contract. I
launched my own childrens wear line and employed a nanny and two people to help me.
So dont give up on the sewing.
I have even been considering leaving charity work and going back to the sewing. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
If you are in London, do you know where I can get Burda World of Fashion Magazine from?

Arrrgh Rikki, poor you after all that hard work. I too gave up sewing because I kept on hating the things I made once sewn. I either chose the wrong fabric for the pattern or the wrong garment for me. At least in a shop you can try it on beforehand. I'd put it away for a bit and then get it out , try it and if you still aren't sure try e bay AT ONCE. I used to keep garments like that in my cupboard 'in case' (in case of what I wonder now) and they used to shout 'Expensive Mistake' and 'Waste of Time' and other unkind things like that at me, so I got rid of them and have had a bit of time not sewing, but I'm sure I'll go back to it, but with a bit more caution being exercised ! Good luck !0

Can we see a picture
I'm just making some alterations to it. Shortening the sleaves and the jacket length and maybe just having the one button instead of three.
I will post a picture when I've finished.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
