Sons insurance had the wrong address, put him down 1 house away, next door, so they changed it and his insurance has gone down £18/month...

then they wrote to confirm it and sent it next door

    :D

I've a reg plate on a car we just sold, so i requested DVLA to be put on a RETENTION certificate (now to me the clue is in the name). So i filled out the forms, and waited.

Got a text from the bloke who bought the car saying the retention certificate had been sent out to HIM. Going to ring DVLA today - surely somebody doing the paperwork there should have thought - hmmm who does this go to, the NEW owner or the guy who wants to RETAIN the registration?

I had to get my e-mail address changed for my online account with my car insurers. Rang them up and explained that my old e-mail account had been hacked so I had created a new one, passed all the security checks etc. and they said they'd change things on their end and it'll all be sorted. Next day, went on to my hacked account to check if any other accounts needed changing, and had an e-mail from them confirming my new e-mail address, but nothing on my new e-mail address.

That happens when you transfer ownership before retaining the numberplate. Did he perhaps register as the new owner online and maybe it was processed before your form was?

We had a similar mishap last year changing keepers among family members. We even contacted them straight away - having realised when we went to try and retain the number plates and were informed the v5 reference was invalid (we'd done it online so apparently it automatically generates a new v5 ref, voiding the old one). They told us they could only send it to the registered keeper on the v5 at the time the retention was done and had no option to change the details. Wasn't a big deal for us as we're family but I highlighted to them that perhaps it was wise to put a prominent warning on their online service to retain plates before transferring ownership.

Maybe set aside an hour or two then?
