Where do you buy plants online?

I've done a fair bit of plant shopping this past year, here are some places i'd recommend!

I took up a £12.99 deal from Jersey Plants, as mentioned on an MSE weekly email. One thing it said was

"Jersey Plants Direct says the plants will be delivered up to 10 working days from the date you order and will come with care instructions.

Note: The plants won't arrive in full bloom, but they will arrive in flower"

There had been a list of several plants and it woudl be a lucky dip. But I have only got too many lobelia and too many geraniums. They are TINY and NONE are in bloom at all. I feel let down. They are in such tiny containers that they need to be potted up IMMEDIATELY. Of course there are no care instructions either!

I've been looking at sites and prices, and I think maybe it saves money in the end to get bigger dearer plants. But ebay is still very competitive fot them.

I'd echo the recommendation for Taylor's clematis. Just bought an excellent quality blue flowering alpine variety called Frankie from them. It was a sturdy plant and arrived excellently packed in good condition,

For bulk buying I always order from Parkers Wholesale - any issues they sort it without quibble!


For a smaller order I would have a check on Ebay - some really good sellers there who have grown the plants themselves and quality is great - also no problem in getting issues resolved

I've been using Thomson & Morgan a lot recently and all the plants have arrived looking healthy and robust. The latest was yesterday when I received a 5 litre pot of a climbing hydrangea. Their postage and packing prices are good for me too at £4.95.

I ordered from plants for shade too, the two plants were limp and almost not there with so little growth. And I got a terse handwritten note about not paying enough postage for my area. Apparently the standard postage wasn't sufficient and I should have paid a £6.00 surcharge! Firstly, I'm still on the mainland, on the West Coast not that far north of Glasgow and secondly, why it would cost over £10.00 to send two small plants anyway is beyond me. The payment webpage didn't do any default charging by postcode and it wasn't clear elsewhere. Not be using them again.

Crocus don't deliver to my area??? What...

I've just ordered an unusual poppy from Harperley Hall Farm Nurseries, postage is only £4.00. It's due to arrive today so I'm hoping the condition of it is good.

I can't use the wholesale nursery that glasgowdan mentions though I do go to http://www.mclarensnurseriesltd.co.uk/ which is much better value than garden centres. Bought some lovely plants last year.

That's ridiculous anyway because royal mail costs the same anywhere! And it's not as if they need to get put on a ferry or anything. I got two plants today from ebay, both big healthy looking plants too, looking good.
