Nationwide Select Credit Card

The Nationwide Select credit card offers the following three distinct benefits:

Unlimited 0.5% cashback
12 months 0% balance transfer with no fee for the first three months.
12 months 0% purchases

However, this card does not appear in any MSE recommendations. This looks like quite a good all-rounder but I am concerned that I may be missing something. I would welcome any comments from other MSE members.

It also matches the Halifax Clarity for overseas purchases (But NOT cash withdrawals)

You need to be a Nationwide current account holder before you can apply, that is the only thing I can think of that might put people off from applying. It is a good card.

It's listed on the cashback cards page.

Thanks and yes I did see that but it does appear to be the only card that offers all three of these main attributes. In fact there are four strong selling points if you include zero balance transfer fee and 0% balance transfers as two.

Overall, I cannot see any other card beating this for versatility, unless of course I am missing something.

It's a good all-rounder, and I use it regularly, but it isn't a leader in any area, which may keep it under the radar.

Many people may prefer several cards with different roles, rather than one more versatile one.

Ah yes, like me, a Jack of all trades but master of none in particular.

In theory yes, but in practice MasterCard exchange rates almost always beat Visa...the best would actually be Aqua Reward as you'd get the MasterCard rate plus 0.5% cashback.
