Veg oil used straight (100%) in the tank is no good without a modification in this cold UK climate... it's simply too thick!
You need to either;
a) Modify your engine (some garages will sell you a kit) which basically involves installing a secondary tank and fuel lines/filters that pre-warm the veg oil etc. or;
b) Buy or make your own biodiesel using cooking oil + Methanol & a pinch of caustic soda
The second option is the least expensive and is easier than making home-brew beer!
For methanol suppliers send this company an email to find your nearest UK stockist:

I note that cooking oil is now more than £1 per litre in the supermarkets nowadays. Therefore is it still cost-effective after buying the oil, methanol etc?0 -

# Used cooking oils from restaurants usually obtained for free (filter first though)
# As I understand it... 5 litres of methanol is enough to make 25 litres of biofuel and about 1/2 teaspoon of caustic soda (tub of caustic soda is available from £0.80 at all DIY shops).0 -
I havent bothered to read all the replies but STOP using the bio NOW,especially if you get it from one of those places on an industrial estates,they use too much solvent to get quick supplies and the solvent rots and perishes all the carbon thats makes the rubber seals in your fuel pump and will end up costing you £1000's to repair,especially if its a peugeot,trust me,I have seen loads of this dilemma0

I agree about using a repuatable source for your biodiesel, i've only used it once and its hard to pin point if it caused my injection pump to leak, or the unleaded i used to thin out the veg (5%) which should have been ok because its recommended if used in cold climates to prevent the diesel waxing.
When my seals were replaced it was found they had lost their softness and had shrunk, now running 100% again and running better than ever, but staying away from bio/unleaded mix!0 -
Out of curiosity i tried SVO in a 54 shogun at the weekend. 99p litre at Netto! Filled half the tank and popped in a tenner of diesel. Ran like a dream, no stalling no problem in starting. Unless someone tells me otherwise Im off to costco.0

I've been on 60% SVO since start of the summer and around 30% before that. Disco is running fine though I've watched the SVO prices climb since I started doing it. No Costco near here so I've blagged a Bookers card when I needed a top up 89p/l for 20l box.
And theres the grin factor when you get out and a passerby says 'it smells like someones having a BBQ somewhere'.0
