Hi
Does anybody know if the government / any companies offer grant assistance while renovating a property with double glazing and removing the old electric storage heaters (don't work at present)
If so, please supply a contact number and let me know your experience.
thanks

does anybody have any experience of doing this recently?0 -
Check the Energy Saving Trust website or helplines.
Storage heaters can often be repaired at fairly reasonable cost. There's not much in them to go wrong.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Not sure why you need a grant as they are easy to remove. Are you looking for a grant to update them?

Why do you believe that there should be some form of financial grant to help you make home improvements?

Yes, not just because i'm in Scotland but I know that the governments will offer grants for significant energy improvement works so trying to see if I can get one to help with the large cost of installing a gas supply and brand new central heating system. Also need double glazing installed so costs will add significantly - would be grateful for any grant assistance while improving the energy efficiency.
does anybody have any experience with securing grant assistance in Scotland?0 -
Hi,
is this a listed building you are renovating, if not then can't see you getting a grant just to do up your own home, lots of homeowners have their own preferences when moving into a new home and just have to pay up, it's part of the fun.
You've not mentioned the kitchen and bathroom, why not go for them as well.0 -
Is mains gas actually available? E7 is more likely to be installed originally where it is not.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
-
Fitting mains gas and a boiler and radiators would be more expensive than just going for an air source heat pump, which would be just as cheap to run as a gas system, and pay for itself over time in RHI payments. It's also much greener.0
