MSE recommendation NOT the best - balance transfer, or am I confused?

I am looking for a 0% card to balance transfer £4000.
I looked at the MSE site and it recommended an MBNA with a 1% fee for 37 months
I was about to apply for this, but then my friend found the santander card with 0% fee for 40 months
I know this is splitting hairs, but does it mean MSE can no longer be trusted to find the best deals? Santander were not even in the results of my search, - or am I missing something?

The Santander product is 41 months, according to their website.
But, there is a £3 per month fee.
Let's do the sums:
1% of £4,000 is £40 in fees for the 37 month MBNA product.
37 x £3 is £111 in fees for the Santander product.
So which is the best deal?...the one MSE should be pushing?
Unless you absolutely need those extra 4 months (how would you know so far away?), then it's MBNA isn't it?0 -
Seriously? MSE "can't be trusted" because of a slightly similar deal, which is actually making you worse off in some scenarios. Get a grip0

What about the no fee balance transfer cards?

Santander are not on the list because they don't pay MSE a referral fee. MSE only promote those that they profit from, so in that respect the OP does have a point.
fimonkey, when you find the best deal for you ask friends if anyone has a referral link that you can share the bonus from, or look at cashback sites for referral links. After all, this is about getting the best deal for you.0 -

That is not correct. Best Buys are included regardless of whether they pay a referral fee
