My switch date was 27th March. All been very slow.

Final electricity bill only just been produced (dated 8th May) - but not using the reading I entered and is showing in my new Ebico account - a different "estimate" (which is lower).

    Anyone else get this?

Will by first RHE Ebico Zero bill be adjusted or do I end up a few units of free electricity? The (higher) reading I gave is still showing in my Ebico account.

The 8th May is exactly 6 weeks after my switch date, so my guess is SSE have been notified of the account switch date but have now given up waiting for a close read as the window has expired (as I think switches are supposed to complete in 6 weeks).

Based on the last few months, I think it is safe to say the delay won't be at the SSE end of things.

Ebico should have been realistic in understanding how their small staff team would handle transferring thousands of customers and warned of these time scales.

I'm not sure that conclusion can be safely formed on the evidence available. What the causes of the delays are is anybody's guess.

My switch date was later than yours, but my final SSE electricity bill was sent within a couple of days. The final gas bill was delayed by around a month.

If it was Ebico's fault as you suggest, then it would imply Ebico are randomly selecting customers to be given long delays, whilst other customers are having their meter readings processed at top speed. It doesn't sound plausible to me.

Rather I suspect that with the multitude of differences within the whole process from customer to final bill, something is delaying some people's final bill in some circumstances.

And unless customers are owed a large credit refund, does it matter if the final bills are delayed a bit? I was quite happy to wait for my final gas bill, shame it wasn't even more delayed :)

Fair enough, it isn't possible to be sure where the delay is.
. Your first bill will be sent to you approximately 30 days after you start being supplied by us.

Did everyone else get this sentence in their welcome pack?

Anyone got their first Ebico Zero bill yet? For quarterly billing, the promise of a first bill in 30 days seemed unusual.

My supply start was 27th March, so 47 days ago. There could just be a delay on my account I suppose. Would be interested to know if any first bills have been seen yet.

Yes, it says that in the variable DD section in my letter. I wonder if it was a standard paragraph included because of (most?) people paying monthly, and something or someone caused it not to be hidden/removed for quarterly customers.

I'm not too fussed when I get my next bill, 2019 would suit me quite well ;)

My switch date from Ebico to Robin Hood was 21st April.
Final electric bill sent within a couple of days (in debt)
Not had final gas bill yet (in credit)

My change has gone through ok, though the gas took longer than the electric. I am updating my readings on the Ebico site.

No, I did not get that sentence in my welcome pack. Too early for my first bills, probably come around the end of June. I pay in the bank on receipt of bills, no direct debits.

The Ebico website says that if you pay on receipt of bill that you'll be billed monthly...
Customers that choose to pay on receipt of bill are sent a bill every month for the energy that they have used that month.

That seemed quite unusual, too. Are they keeping quarterly billing for ex-SSE Ebico customers only, or are they just a bit mixed up with when they will be billing?

The website does also say that variable DD will be quarterly, so quarterly billing hasn't been eliminated entirely.

I wonder whether the pay on receipt of bill is advertised as monthly only for new customers - perhaps they feel that people opting to pay this way would benefit from not running up too high a bill before they get and pay it? (no slur on people paying on receipt of bill intended). Existing customers with an established history of paying promptly on receipt of a quarterly bill have obviously demonstrated their ability to pay using this method. Just speculating though.

I have now received the final gas bill ftom Ebico/SSE and my credit will be refunded within 16 days.
  • Thank you all. It looks like you all got a switch date much earlier than me.

I received a letter from my bank today advising that a direct debit has been set up by Ebico on my account, so it looks like it is all going through, just at a snail's pace.
