Ebico Equipower to Ebico Zero switch

I received various letters back in late February and early March time, as is all well documented in earlier threads about the SSE/Ebico parting of company confusion.

I've been motivated to register to these boards, rather than just read them, to query if other folk are experiencing such a slow transfer from SSE powered Ebico to RHE powered Ebico.

I didn't immediately do anything with all the letters that had come, but finally got round to doing the online switch request on 25th March.

I heard nothing so guessed it probably hadn't worked. It was lingering around the bottom of my to-do list to chase, but I am such a low user, it wasn't a massive issue for me to get it sorted quickly.

I then receive an email today - 3rd May - saying welcome to Ebico, I register online and see my welcome pack referring to a supply start date of 24th May.

Is this the kind of speed everyone else is experiencing? Just seems a little slow. I could have chased up, but I'm not in a rush, I just want it to all go through with no complications.

I'd be interested to know other timescales folks are experiencing - including the final SSE bills being produced. I will be in credit on both due to estimated bills.

Thanks!

I suspect the later people left it to contact Ebico to switch the longer the queue they went to the back of.

I signed up 16/03. Welcome pack 20/03. Switch 11/04. Final SSE bill (Elec) 19/04. Final SSE bill (Gas) Not yet.

If the switch request was made in time then you shouldn't be paying the increased SSE charges.

If you aren't in a rush then it is probably best to sit back and let them get on with the job. If you end up paying more than you should with SSE due to the switch date then you can always complain and ask for a refund/compensation.

I have Ebico for an annex and my dates are almost identical(switch 12/04)

Likewise my electricity is sorted, but not gas. Indeed my 01 May gas DD went to SSE.

Ebico(SSE) had a separate DD for gas and electricity. Apparently Ebico(RH) have a combined DD for both fuels.

I responded within a day or so to the Ebico email sent on 25/02/17 opting to transfer both gas and electricity from SSE to RHE/Ebico

My actual switch date was 23/03/17, confirmed in a "Switch Complete" letter sent to my Ebico online account.

However, there was a period of overlap where direct debits for gas were taken by both SSE and Ebico/RHE after my official switch date

SSE still listed me as having an active gas acount with them because of the (apparently normal) delay in both parties verifying an agreed final gas meter reading.

SSE have now automatically refunded £49 electricity overpayment on 15/04/17 and ~£18 gas overpayment yesterday 03/05/17. So that's some 9 weeks plus to tie up all the loose ends of the transfer - very much longer that I ever expected back in February.

The time from your switch to RHE/Ebico and your final bill from SSE/Ebico was 41 days, definitely within the 6 weeks in the switching guidelines. Plus your request to switch to RHE/Ebico took 26 days, most switches take at least 21 days, you have to be given a 14 day cooling off period so it looks like it went pretty smoothly?

Likewise I switched in the first week of April. Had an Email saying I was supplied with electric and gas by Ebico/RHE from the 24th Apr. I put in meter readings on the 23rd. Only the electric reading shows. I'm still waiting to hear about the gas switch from SSE. I've not even had a 'sorry you are leaving' letter yet.

Yes, I didn't get the feeling I was a valued customer who was going to be missed by SSE either.

I think the Gas part of switches has been very slow, something about Meter Technical details, hopefully not a deliberate act by SSE?

I recently applied to switch to Ebico Zero from SSE, so thought I'd add my data to help and reassure others:

    Welcome letter: 21 March 2017
Switch complete letter: 11 April 2017
Final electricity bill from SSE: 20 April 2017
Final gas bill from SSE: 5 May 2017

The final gas bill was estimated, despite having supplied a reading to Ebico on time and SSE telling me they'd received it when I called them on 24 April. Happily, SSE corrected this without argument when I rang them this morning and my closing account balance has already been updated with a revised final bill due to appear online tomorrow.

I was actually a direct customer of SSE who just happened to start switching at the same time and not an existing Ebico customer. (Though that didn't stop Ebico wrongly sending me a confusing email about the changeover and how I would need to re-register on their new website, etc.!)
